The South East Asia 7s (SEA 7s) tournament is an open invitational tournament for SEA Rugby Unions to send their teams to compete. Organised by the Singapore Rugby Union, the preliminaries will be played on Friday, 14 April 2017, with the grand finals of the competition being played at the National Stadium during the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens on Saturday, 15 April 2017. Sanctioned by World Rugby

, SEA 7s will feature eight men's teams - Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, Brunei, reigning SEA Games gold medallists Philippines, runners-up Malaysia and Singapore and Singapore A. The women's competition will see six nations - Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, Malaysia and current SEA Games gold medallists Thailand - do battle.
