LISTEN TO YOUR CORNER

What I have learnt this year after competing in Judo and boxing is the importance and value of listening to my coach or cornerman.

Top 3 reasons why it’s important:

1. Real-Time Tactical Adjustments
A sharp cornerman sees what you might miss — your opponent’s patterns, weaknesses, and how you’re performing under pressure.

2. Energy and Composure Management
They help you breathe, stay calm, and reset mentally between rounds.

3. Confidence and Belief
A good cornerman builds you up, even when you’re behind. Their presence can boost morale and give you that extra fire.

A good cornerman isn’t just a coach — they’re your eyes, brain, calm, and anchor when you’re in the storm!

APPRECIATION POST

First of all, thank you for organising this event and allowing the opportunity for local boxers to gain experience. Also thank you to my opponent for stepping in to fight me on short notice.

Big thanks to my cornerman, head coach .hib for your invaluable support and coaching. All the preparation and technical advice definitely helped me in becoming a better athlete and a coach myself.

Thank you team .jjayden and also my friends .a11 who were there to support and take part!

And most importantly, thank you to my wife for always being supportive, especially when it comes to my sports endeavours.

God bless. Alhamdulillah.

Blessed to have the opportunity again to train overseas. This time it was at in Tokyo, Japan. Even while on our honeymoon, I still managed to slot in a proper boxing session.

I am truly grateful for this opportunity. Alhamdulillah

Alhamdulillah. All praise be to Allah.

Thank you to my Judo team for their unwavering support. I couldn’t have performed this well without their invaluable technical advice and guidance.

A heartfelt thank you to my wife and friends—it’s always a blessing to have family by your side, cheering you on every step of the way.

To my opponents and the competitors in my weight class, thank you for pushing me to my limits. We are part of one of the most stacked categories, and you are all true warriors!

And finally, thank you to myself for staying committed to my passion for martial arts. Even though I’m past my prime, the journey of learning and growth is far from over.
