Should I have 20g of protein each meal? Should I only have 1 bowl of rice instead of 2? Is there too much butter on my kaya toast ? Can I eat this donut? Should I have Kopi without milk to make it healthier?

Rather than obsessing with numbers, or sacrificing our favourite foods, focus on reducing the amount of calories first. Excess calories, is still excess calories - no matter what and how healthy you eat.

This is a general guide, that is simple to start your healthy eating with. A diet rich in whole-foods, wholegrains, vegetables & fruits with moderate amounts of complex carbs and complete proteins. It's easier than it sounds. Don't complicate it.

**An Interview with Antonio Jerome**

⭐ Who do you work with?

I train busy working male and female adults that desire realistic results with consistent and feasible workout and nutrition plans. I have trained many people from different walks of life - from the exhausted doctor, to an overworked 9 to 5 blue-tie worker and even to an aspiring, skinny 17 year-old kid preparing for his national service.

⭐ How has your own training developed over the years?

From ego-lifting with ridiculously heavy weights, to injuring my rotator cuff, to fracturing both toes and struggling to get back in the gym. I realised that there are safer and more effective methods to building muscle than just lifting heavy all the time, overworking your muscles and fatiguing your nervous system. Being shredded isn't my priority anymore, as much as feeling, moving and looking good & staying pain/injury-free for most of my life.

**An Interview with Antonio Jerome**

⭐ What got you started on your fitness journey?

I was always the skinny kid in class and gaining muscle wasn't always easy. I even struggled to do pull-ups during secondary school and was made fun for my skinny legs all the time. After a friend brought me to the gym and taught me a few exercises with the weights, I got hooked and the rest is history.

⭐ What does BeyondFit mean to you?

BeyondFit is a training concept and idea developed over multiple years of witnessing injuries and experiencing many repeated failures with an array of fitness goals. It started out as I slowly realised, that other clients and friends have the same training beliefs as I do - a holistic, well-framed and evidence-based program backed up by scientific research.

⭐ What do you do?

I strive to provide an integrated and well-packaged strategy to assist individuals with their fitness/body goals. No quick-cut, fast-track, fad diets or countless reps of random exercises for 45minutes, but a well-rounded approach, towards building mobility, strength, endurance & improving mental health.

⭐ Who do you work with?

Currently I work in a gym with a large ratio of foreigners. So I have trained people from Egypt, Iran, China, Indonesia etc. It is always interesting to hear their stories about life back home. Being young professionals, they have grasped on how to use the gym equipment but are unable to formulate a program or diet plan.

⭐ How has your own training developed over the years?

As a teen, I would always go around doing sets of whatever I felt like doing that day (this mostly meant arms). So despite blasting arms almost everyday, I never got anywhere.

During college I began to seriously read up on articles, forums and instructionals.
With that I managed to push to 68kg from just 56kg.

After working in a gym, I took on fitness certificates and went up to 83kg without much fat gain.All these was done doing hypertrophy bodybuilding style program!

Currently I am cutting down from that 83kg with an emphasis on strength training (something that I have only done once).

**An Interview with Bryann Teo**
Part 1/2

⭐ What got you started on your fitness journey?

As a scrawny kid in my school years, I have always wanted to fill out my frame.
Coupled with always being physically active and having sporty friends, it was a conducive environment to pick up the weights.

But it was only in my college years where life got a little tough, and this is when the gym became my emotional outlet. Every progress I made served as a distraction to what was going on.

⭐ What does BeyondFit mean to you?

Having worked in various gyms, I have met numerous people with bods who were the envy of many.

However despite having a fit body, their mind is still wrecked with anxious and suicidal thoughts.
The outer does not represent the inner.

With this, I decided to start BeyondFit as a way for people to take care of both their physical and mental health through mindfulness.

⭐ What do you do?

I mostly focus on weight loss and muscle gain.
I believe in having solid fundamentals and not trying uncoventional methods without first having that base.

It must also be sustainable for the long-term and my goal is for the client to be able to progress without my help eventually.
