Invest in your defence.. there must be as much intent in your defensive manoeuvres as your punches!
That step back.. them slips, lean backs or even that subtle lead hand on your opponent's shoulder as you pivot out of the way.. hopefully faster than an anchored ship as the current changes 🤜🏽

Sparring is about application.. the 101 drills you've practiced.. the footwork.. the conditioning.. to experience different styles.. it isn't about knocking each other's heads off (yes there's hard sparring).. but in true sparring you will learn ring generalship.. And a certain bond forms with your sparring partner in the name of education..

Robb n I chanced upon this drill in between rounds.. utilising the double end ball, to gain confidence on slips and blocks.. personally I'd use it when you're tired.. to remain vigilant despite the fatigue..
