5 days left at the original Pineapple MMA.
When we started at Selegie Road, we were tired of sh*tty gym environments. The egos, the bullying, the fake tough guys, the arrogance, the politics.
We wanted to build something different.
A place where people actually felt comfortable training. Men, women, complete beginners, fighters, recreational members… all sharing the same space together.
Where fighters trained alongside everyday people.
Where nobody cared about fake certificates, pointless grading systems, or pretending to be something they’re not. We cared about real technical improvement. Real physical progress. Real coaching.
We wanted trainers with genuine credentials. Coaches that the global fight community actually respects. A program we could be proud of.
We also wanted a different kind of service culture.
One where customers are not always right.
One where staff are protected, respected, and not bullied just because someone is paying money. We made difficult decisions over the years that cost the business financially, but protected the culture we were building.
As we grew, some people became offended by the way we ran things.
We insisted on staying authentic. We called out bu****it when we saw it. We were never interested in pleasing everyone or becoming friends with everybody.
And yet, the people who truly valued what we stood for stayed.
People kept moving to us. Training with us. Building friendships here.
From the outside, some people thought we were the villains. They couldn’t understand why the community kept growing.
Then they stepped into the gym.
And suddenly, everything made sense.
Now, the Selegie Road chapter is coming to an end.
We’re moving to 139 Cecil Street, a space nearly 3x bigger, with upgraded facilities and room for the next phase of Pineapple MMA.
And one more thing.
We are not a cheap gym. And we shouldn’t be.
Our trainers are world class. Their credentials are real, globally recognised, and respected by the fight community far beyond Singapore.
Everyone here works hard every single day to maintain a world-class facility, coaching standard, and community culture.
