Hooray! Qooline Run Challenge last virtual race has finally ended in Dec and while points are being calculated based on each runner's birth year & completion time, we would like to give special mention to one 'very young at heart' runner, Michael Leong that is. This '69-year young' has been one of our strong supporters since the start of our campaign. In some of our challenges which came in every bi-monthly, he did manage to get into among top 5 finishers in the men's 5KM race category on count of his age seniority - this being a virtual race based on age concept. His average pace for 5KM was about 6min/KM which is very fast for his age.
In our last race, he clocked an amazing fast time of 23:26 min which is just under 5min/KM pace. It is a vast improvement from his previous 5KM races. Congrats!
Asked how he can manage to stay in shape, he said he runs at least 3 times a week. He used to do very long distances in his younger days but nowadays, he just keeps to 5KM distance so that he can 'save' his joints from wear-and-tear. In his younger days, clocking 16-min over 5KM is easy-peasy for him.
Asked again what advice/s he has for other runners especially the senior ones, he said it is important to listen to your body and run at your own pace.
In what podium position will he achieve in Qooline Run Challenge Dec 5KM race? Results will be announced once points are calculated. He should do well in this last race.
Once again, heartiest congratulations to Michael Leong. Continue to be an inspiration to all and continue to smash your way into 2023. This is to wish you good health and good luck!.
