The 4th July 2026 was chosen as a very auspicious day for Ceylon Sports Club to receive its first generous donation toward the refurbishment of the club. The donation was made by the Iswaran Family in memory of Prof C Subrahmanyam, who served as a Past President of CSC from 1950 to 1959. During WWII, the clubhouse was completely destroyed by bombs. Prof. Subrahmanyam helmed the rebuilding of the present clubhouse with his team of dedicated committee members.
The time has come for the Ceylon Sports Club to be revamped. Although the building will be preserved as a heritage site on the Balestier Plain Heritage Trail, the younger generations look forward to enjoying better, modernised facilities that meet their needs. Hence, refurbishment plans have begun, with designs being drawn to revamp the entire building.
The field will be further enhanced with floodlights for night games. This is in the process of being put up and is hopefully fully functional in August 2026.
CSC has also designed a T-Shirt as a branding for the club. The full money from the T-Shirt will go towards the building fund.
We look forward to more generous donations in the fundraising drive that has been kick-started by Dr. Iswaran and his family. We hope to raise around S$5million.
