SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - SG60 EDITION
11TH DAEDO TAEKWONDO OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025
After our milestone championships last year, this year’s 11th Daedo Taekwondo Open Championships 2025 holds special significance as it coincides with Singapore’s SG60 celebrations — marking 60 years of nation-building, unity, and progress. SG60 is a time to honour the people and communities who helped build our nation, and to celebrate how far we’ve come together.
In that same spirit, we aim to recognise the pioneers who shaped the foundation of Taekwondo in Singapore, as well as the community that continues to carry that legacy forward. Working directly with Daedo International this year, we promise an exciting and meaningful edition for athletes and coaches alike — and we are pleased to announce the following:
COMMEMORATIVE AWARD
Every medalist, in addition to their medal, will receive a special 11th Daedo SG60 commemorative teddy bear (30 cm, standing) — a keepsake to celebrate this milestone year for both Singapore and our Taekwondo community.
SPECIAL PIONEER TROPHIES
To mark this SG60 edition, we are proud to introduce two special trophies honouring the pioneers who advanced Taekwondo in Singapore:
MILAN KWEE VISIONARY TROPHY
Presented to the champion Head Coaches of the Head Coach – Virtual Taekwondo (Individual) event.
Named in honour of the late Mr Milan Kwee, former President of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation — a great patron of this event and a leader whose forward-thinking spirit and dedication transformed Singapore Taekwondo. Mr Kwee provided years of guidance and leadership to the community, encouraging innovation and collaboration. Virtual Taekwondo — one of the newest and most progressive expressions of our sport — reflects the same spirit of innovation and vision that he championed throughout his life.
CHIN KEE SHIN LEGACY TROPHY
Presented to the champion Head Coaches of the Head Coach – Poomsae (Team) event.
Named in memory of the late Mr Chin Kee Shin, founder of Leng Kee Taekwondo and one of the founding fathers of Singapore Taekwondo. Mr Chin was instrumental in guiding many generations of black belts and was renowned for his technical precision, discipline, and lifelong dedication to teaching. This trophy recognises his enduring legacy — a reflection of the traditional strength, mentorship, and excellence he instilled in his students and the wider community.
SG60 COMMUNITY TROPHIES
Presented to the top Singapore team and the top international team with the highest participation.
To celebrate the unity and growth of the Taekwondo family — both in Singapore and abroad — these trophies embody the spirit of SG60, honouring community, inclusiveness, and the shared passion for Taekwondo that transcends borders.
Through these commemorations, we celebrate not only our athletes and coaches, but also the pioneers and communities whose passion and perseverance have helped Taekwondo flourish in Singapore.
