The Sharkies had our Sabre Shark Parent-Child Lake Clean-Up yesterday. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the launch was rather delayed but we were extremely thankful for the patience and understanding of those who joined us. As a Scout honour, we promise that we will do better the next time.
We were thrilled to have Kayler, one of the West Area cubs, who stepped up courageously in assisting with the Project Blue Wave briefing. Other than attending our sessions, we hope that our participants can share their knowledge and experience with others, to encourage them to do their part in marine/ waterways conservation.
Of course, it is also extremely heartening for the Sharkies as our alumni are bringing their families to join us for our activities. What touched us the most was, they showcased the spirit of Scouting and SPSSRSSC (hahaha, do we still remember what this stands for?) by taking so much initiatives to help in the smooth running of the event. Imagine the elation when we heard that they were SP Rovers alumni! The SPSSRSSC blood truly runs deep in us.
Sabre Shark is conducting a Project Blue Wave Ambassador training for kids between 7 to 12 years old on 25 April morning. This collaboration is a first, where Sabre Shark worked with Passion Wave, to adapt the existing adult training materials for kids, with the belief that our kids can also be spokespersons for marine conservation. In line with the educational outcomes of the Scout Youth Programme, we also want to nurture youths who are like Kayler, to be courageous and confident, in spreading the awareness of the causes they believe in.
