The Aileron Crossover is challenging to make look perfect from the crowds perspective. Virtual Black Knights 2 and 3 must be at very specific altitudes and seperation from one another, to not only allow for a safe cross, but to also allow the illusion of crossing each other to look perfect from the ground.

VIRTUAL BLACK KNIGHTS - RECRUITING NOW!

The Virtual Black Knights aim to represent the RSAF Black Knights and the Republic of Singapore Air Force to an international online audience providing an authentic and entertaining experience. We are always looking for likeminded virtual pilots with a passion and admiration for close formation aerobatics. We invite you to apply for a role in the team! Though made up of multiple nationalities, the Virtual Black Knights wish to recruit many Singaporean ambassadors to maintain authenticity and uniqueness to the organization. However, this is not a requirement.

We are currently seeking reserve pilots to become a part of the Virtual Black Knights team. Expanding upon this, we are also introducing an exciting new element of the team which will be introduced this year, allowing our Singaporean representation to be increased in the virtual aerobatics space, which will consist of our reserve pilots. However it is also possible to be a part of this new element without being a reserve pilot for the Virtual Black Knights.

Various additional roles are also available, such as Media Editors. Information on the requirements of joining the team will be available on the sign up form and our discord server linked below. Thank you and we look forward to flying with you!

The Black Knights is the official aerobatics team of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) featuring six F-16C Fighting Falcons. The Black Knights' emblem is sported on the red vertical tail of each of the team's aircraft and the team's name is emblazoned on both sides of the aircraft which are painted in red and white – the national colours of Singapore.

The Black Knights has its namesake of origin from the game of chess where the Knight is widely regarded as the most aggressive, flexible and manoeuvrable of all the chess pieces, having both the ability to breach barriers and move in nimble and strategically important directions, thus exemplifying flexibility and precision manoeuvrability as personified by the pilots of the team during their aerial manoeuvres.

The real team was founded in 1973 as 'Osprey Red' flying the Hawker Hunter.
In 1974, the team was renamed as 'The Black Knights'.
The team flew the Hawker Hunter from 1973 to 1981; The F-5E from 1981 to 1990; The A-4SU Super Skyhawk from 1990 to 2000; The F-16A from 2000 to 2008 and the F-16C from 2008 onwards.

The real team was last seen in 2015 for Singapore's 50th Birthday.
