I am so jealous of all the beautiful photos from the cherry blossoms I see posted by for example Jenna Vainionpää. Up here in the North cherry trees can't survive due to our harsh winters, but fortunately there are other ways - a promise of spring even up here in the North. My Puntiagudo CEN in the cherry blossoms of Photoshop.

My new work in progress. A full set of this Dragon/Viking and Dwarven inspired piece of art. It will get a matching breastplate and perhaps even a barding and a crinet. 🤔😍 My OCD is struggling a little with the sidepiece tho since I managed to stitch it a liiiittle off center but I guess it's the small imperfections that gives it that authentic handmade look 🙈

I usually find my inspiration more from the real Norse mythology but when making this bridle I found myself inspired by Marvels Asgard. This bridle became a kinda "sci-fi" version of my normal work. And I could really see this bridle on Asgards horses if you follow the Marvel style. ❤ This is actually of one of my own fav pieces of work so far!

One year ago today this little hunk passed his vet check and with that began our journey. I hope for many many more years to come 😍💖 He is beginning to feel so lovely under rider. We have not worked much with his riding yet. I usually take things very slow the first year in terms of training. I think they have enough to cope with during their cultural change. I don't say it's the right thing to do but I have noticed that they usually need 6-12 months to really settle in and when that happens "work" becomes so much easier. I have said it plenty of times but to me time and patience is the best key to get that good foundation in terms of our relationship and their harmony.
Everyone has their own belief and this is mine. I never set any goals during our first year. I just set boundaries in what behaviours are acceptable and not and when I ride I just feel them. See if they are ready. If the work is going backwards I back off - give them more time. And then I try again. Are you ready now? And the things we struggled with are not the issue anymore. I give my horses so much space to think, to be individuals. To have ideas and try out their power so they understand and that they never take advantage of it. Some takes more time than others. Some have so strong wills that the best way is just to work around their ego (Yes I'm looking at you Pip).
Just get to know your horse. Not the horse you want him to be but the horse he is. Don't change him - embrace him with everything he is. (And no I am not talking about truly dangerous behaviours) And in the end if that personality does not fit you find the one that does. They are not drones - nor are we. To have a horse is to fall in love and like any relationship it takes hard work - dedication and passion. But most of all it takes respect, love and a shared goal in life. You want your horse to thrive and love their work as much as you do - so listen to him - he will tell you what he needs 💖
