Hej everyone! We will host another beginner's course this summer and we still have a small number of spots left!

It will be 8 fun sessions where you will learn how to row! We will learn technique both on the rowing mashine and on the water. This will be in week 35-37 (starting August 24), so starting soon :)

The course is offered by Akademiska Roddföreningen Stockholm, located at Brunnsviken (very close to KI!) and organized for students from KTH, KI, SU, and everybody else who wants to learn rowing (https://www.akademiskarodd.se/foreningen/Nyheter/hostensnyborjarkurs/)

No prior knowledge about rowing is necessary!

You can directly contact [email protected] or you can contact me if you have any further questions!

This time last week, we were over half-way through the Stafettvasen, a cross-country ski race held as part of the Winter Week! Stockholm's academic rowing community took part for the second time this year, with 25 rowers from KTH, SU and KI taking part with ARF (Akademiska Roddforeningen, our parent club)! With temperatures down to -23 degrees and lots of snow, it was definitely a true Swedish experience! After only a few months of training, we all raced between 9 and 24 km, which was not an easy feat for some of us!

Although the cross-country skiing season may nearly be over for this year, that does mean we can soon get back on the water to row!

Did you know that women in Sweden have been badass rowers for over 600 years? From the 15th to 19th century, the water ferry traffic in the Stockholm archipelago was dominated by “rowing women” (Roddarmadam in Swedish). These women owned their own boats and businesses, inheriting them from their mothers and retired colleagues, and were well known for their strength and speed. They were described as “Good women who rows like devils!” 💪

If you want to become a badass rower like these strong and wonderful women, get in touch to find out how you can get involved (we also want badass men as well as women!)
