Day 2 of in Montenegro. Emma has developed a strange rash from the wet suit. It looks like someone trid to strangle her with piano wire. Luckily she had brought a neck protector that she decided to use. We were brought with boats and mini buses to the start of the first swim. At 8 am we went into the water glowing from vaseline. A beautiful morning and pretty calm water. After about 1 km, the water got rougher but the wind came from the back. After yet another km the waves started to ”turn”. It got harder. After 3 km, we were crossing a bay to the first food station. That km was really hard. The waves came right at us and it felt like the food station never came closer. When finally arriving there it was like heaven. They had everything, nicely served on big trays. Big shout out to the food station crew. Then into the water again after a few minutes rest. Now we could see the bottom very well. Lots of fish and starfish. Then 1 km of waves in the right direction but then suddenly, they ”turned” again. The last km was very hard. To reach the last pyramid marker seemed impossible for a while. The waves threw us in all sorts of directions and the finish had big waves right towards us so we could only see glimpses of the finish arch in each sighting and it came closer very slowly. But, we made it. 8 km on the first leg. Then off with boat to a small island where we had a great lunch with a beatiful view. At 1 pm, it was time for the second swim of the day. Two laps of 900 m each around the island. Emmas rash had gotten worse. Unfortunately, the neck protector was giving a rash on the lower cheek and the strangle marks had gotten worse. It was good we decided to swim the last leg without wetsuit. So proud to have finished day 2 and so greatful to be part of this adventure. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou for this professional, well organized and safe event. And thank you to the entire crew that makes this possible for us swimmers ❤️
