Det känns lite overkligt att se sitt namn i en vetenskaplig studie och samtidigt ärofyllt att kunna bidra till forskningsfältet inom styrketräning. I artikeln jämför vi hur lätta vikter (fler repetitioner) vs tunga (färre repetitioner) påverkar muskeltillväxt och styrka hos tränade individer.

Good knee bend from Ben Shelton and Andy Roddick (as a lefty) but look at the similarities in the elbow & racket position before the racket drop. This helps create the extra racket speed to serve big 💣💣

Can’t see the results you want in the gym?

Maybe you’re doing too many exercises in the gym hoping that they will target a muscle better.

This could be true but the reality is that the muscles respond to stimulus and not the amount of exercises.

Taking the sets close to failure will ensure you’re increasing tension on the muscle fibers and thus stimulate growth.

3-4 exercises/workout is enough for many.

Perform the sets close to failure.

📝 Research shows that you can build upper body strength and muscle mass with progressive push-ups just as good as bench press. You just have to get a bit creative with loading strategies to make them difficult enough:
✅Increase sets and reps
✅Explosive concentric and slow eccentric
✅Staggared (more weight on one arm)
✅Two arms up one arm down
✅Feet elevated
✅One arm push-up

💰Recovery tools is a billion dollar industry with massage guns, kinesio tape, cupping, compression garmets etc. It is very easy to get lost in this jungle and forget the most fundamental things like sleep, nutrition and hydration.
✅Using recovery tools has its place and time but it simply won’t work if the bottom on the pyramid is neglected.

Does box height matter?? You can see some people jump on high boxes which is impressive (and Instagram-friendly) but the height of the box doesn’t matter! What matters is having maximal intent for every jump. The jump height doesn’t suddenly increase just because we are landing on higher boxes, if every jump is max explosive.
The only thing that boxes do is to reduce landing impact which is easier on the joints and muscles. Let me know what you think.
