U-Banca Transilvania has reached an agreement with a player who has had an impressive career both in the EuroLeague and in the NBA. Jeffery Taylor, the former Real Madrid basketball player, is joining to strengthen the squad led by Mihai Silvășan.
The Swedish player, who has American roots, comes from our former opponents in the BKT EuroCup, BC Wolves. The athlete stands 2.01 meters tall and turned 36 in May. He was born in the Swedish city of Norrköping, with his father being American Jeff Taylor, a former NBA basketball player who later settled in the Nordic country. Jeffery moved to the United States as a teenager and played for Hobbs High School in New Mexico. He later continued his career in college at Vanderbilt.
Taylor was drafted into the NBA in 2012 with the 31st pick by the Charlotte Bobcats, now known as the Charlotte Hornets. He played three seasons in the world’s top basketball league, totaling 132 games with averages of 6.1 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.8 assists.
Afterward, Jeffery signed with Real Madrid, where he played from 2015 until 2022. During this time, the Swede won the EuroLeague in 2018, sharing the court with big names like Luka Dončić, Felipe Reyes, and Rudy Fernandez. In addition, our new basketball player won the Spanish League championship four times, the Spanish Super Cup four times, and the Spanish Cup three times. He also won the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in 2015 with the decorated Spanish team. All in all, Jeffery played 202 games for Real Madrid.
After parting ways with Real Madrid, Taylor signed with BC Wolves Vilnius. In the most recent EuroCup season, he averaged 8.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. In the Lithuanian league, he posted averages of 9.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.
On the international stage, Jeffery chose to represent his birth country and made a strong impression at EuroBasket 2013, where he was a true superstar. He finished the tournament held in Slovenia averaging 21.2 points and 4.6 rebounds.
Jeffery Taylor is the second player announced so far by U-Banca Transilvania, after Iverson Molinar.
