Absolute Fencing Signs Sponsorship with Olympic Champion Lauren Scruggs (USA)
BRIDGEWATER, NJ, USA, Jan. 16, 2025 — USA’s Olympic champion Lauren Scruggs has signed a sponsorship agreement with Absolute Fencing Gear, Inc., providing long-term support for the 21-year-old fencer as she competes nationally and internationally in women’s foil.
Ranked fifth in the world, Scruggs soared to international fame with her women’s foil individual silver medal and team gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, becoming the first Black American woman to win an individual fencing medal.
“An incredible athlete and person, Lauren made history at Paris 2024, and we are tremendously proud to have her join Team Absolute,” said Absolute Fencing Gear Gary Lu. “At only 21, she has hit the senior ranks with an incredible start, and her future as an elite fencer literally knows no bounds. We are here to support her in her fencing journey and stand behind her as she competes worldwide.”

Scruggs is a six-time world champion at the Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships, including three individual and three team events, as well as being the 2023 NCAA Women’s Foil Champion fencing for Harvard University. Her coach is Sean McClain and her clubs are the Peter Westbrook Foundation and Fencers Club in New York.
