When I started this page, it was with the intention of promoting rope flow. I wanted to grow my brand here and offer free education. It became obvious fairly soon that Facebook is a dying platform and completely unsuited for that goal. I kept going anyway, hoping that something will change.

It changed for the worse: if I want Facebook to show my content to more than a handful of followers, I have to pay to boost posts. Instead of giving into the racketeering, I decided to phase out this page and continue posting on other platforms.

I won’t delete anything, so you’ll still have access to older tutorials and demos.

Thank for all the support so far. If you’d like to see more of what I post (many more drills and tutorials are coming), you can follow me on Instagram and YouTube.

Rope Flow

This drill is inspired by . It’s an extension of the 2-1 drill and follows this structure:

1. The cycle starts with a 3bt matador
2. You follow up with a 2bt matador
3. Finish with a 1bt figure 8
4. When you finish the 3-2-1 cycle, you start a new cycle by doing the 3bt matador on the other side.

Bt stands for “beat” or count or revolution (of the rope). I count how many times the apex of the rope hits the floor before it moves to the other side of the body.
Figure 8 patterns are 1 beat, standard matadors are 2 beats, 3bt matadors/weaves are 3 beats.

Prerequisites for this drill:
3bt UH matador
2-1 drill

You can add step forward or back for extra challenge.

Trying something new with the weighted rope sleeves Saki Jones made for me. No clue what I’m doing, but it was still fun. If you ever tried learning anything in rope flow, you might be familiar with the feeling.

2-1 drill is an interesting challenge that’s based on convos with and drills from .ph

Although it looks easy, it will keep you on your toes because it breaks the usual rhythm of alternating rope flow patterns.

Anecdotally, overhand (OH) variation seems more difficult.

Don’t forget to like, comment, share and drill both sides 🎯
