Upgrade in the self service. 😉
Finally got around to installing a couple of larger boxes for longer tools like axes, loppers, large knife cases and others larger items that doesn't fit in my regular boxes.

Different edges for different tasks indeed 😜

I try to welcome as many edges from everyday life as I can in my small sharpening endeavor. Expanding my horizons and learning new skills and techniques is a very enjoyable journey!

On the back end of the mowing season here in northern Sweden. But not a bad time to tune up the blades so they're up to s***f when spring comes around again. Sharpened and balanced.

I talk a lot about thinning kitchen knives to maintain /improve geometry. But Meat grinder knives need to be thinned too 😉. As they're sharpened you get down inte thicker material and the bevels widen causing larger surface area of metal to metal causing more wear on the plates and knives. From what I can see many use their worn down knives and plates for too long between sharpenings. I think that's when the bad stuff starts happening to the plates and knives (chips in the knives and scratches in the plates).

This one had been forgotten in the sink, so the owner wanted it cleaned up a bit 😉. Carbon steel reacts quickly with water/moist, so they need a bit more care after use to remain in shape.

Not often I receive simple work knives like this due to their relative low price. So when a customer wants to preserve these kind of knives instead of buying a new one I try to reward it by giving the knife a bit extra TLC.

Put my new 300 mm contact wheel to good use on this one!

A pack of butchers knives sharp again. These had been around a long time with a lot metal ground away (thus making them thicker behind the edge).
So I thinned them out in the process to improve performance and make them function like they are supposed to again.

Eka Swingblade and Mora 2000, two common visitors at my shop this time of year 😉
Mora 2000 is one of their finer models. The thinner geometry at the outer part for more delicate work and regular sturdy Mora at the inner part.
All now sharp and ready to serve their owners again.

Two old axes in for just a new edge.. But I just can't help giving old tools a little bit more love than strictly required (scroll for after pictures).
A few minutes extra on the wire wheel and new edges and they show a bit more of their former glory 😅
Hope the owner sands down and puts some oil on them handles and they will serve many years to come!
