The campuses of two universities were struck by drones causing the loss of many civilian lives, severe injuries and damage to infrastructure. ✨ Project Kick-off: PowHer – Enhancing Digital Opportunities for Women and IDP's in Ukraine ✨

January 23-24 we officially kicked off PowHer, a Swedish–Ukrainian partnership dedicated to support inclusive recovery and job creation for women and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP's) in Ukraine.

During the kick-off, partners from Sweden and Ukraine came together to align on our shared vision, roles, and next steps as well as discuss the needs of the target groups in Ukraine. We began the co-creation journey that will lead to inclusive, AI-supported training programmes, a digital Community of Practice, and open-access learning resources reaching women and trainers across Ukraine. The first training programme will start later this spring - so if you are a woman educator/trainer in Ukraine ready to learn how to incprporate digital tools, ai-skills and innovation in your own training, keep your eyes open for the opening of applications in a few weeks!

PowHer is built on collaboration, trust, and long-term capacity development. Over the coming 2 years, the project partners will work together to:

• Train and support women trainers and educators
• Enable digital and entrepreneurial upskilling for women and IDPs
• Strengthen institutional capacity and cross-border cooperation
• Contribute to Ukraine’s recovery and EU integration through inclusive digital education

We at LIFE Academy are proud to be a partner in the WISE Ukraine – Women in Sustainable Energy programme, which has been granted 3 MSEK in funding by the Swedish Institute.

WISE Ukraine is an 18-month international leadership and capacity-building programme running from December 2025 to June 2027, designed to empower women professionals in Ukraine to lead change in sustainable energy, leadership, gender equality, and institutional development.

As Project Manager from LIFE Academy, I am especially excited to contribute to the programme’s design and implementation together with our partners, bringing our experience in leadership development, change processes, and international collaboration into a context where it truly matters.

Change Projects at the core

Each main participant, together with her Home Team of 2–3 colleagues, will design and implement a Change Project addressing a real organisational challenge related to:

sustainable energy,

leadership,

gender equality, or

institutional development.

What the programme includes:

• Online expert sessions and coaching
• One-week in-person training in Sweden (September 2026)
• Leadership & communication training in Ukraine
• Final conference and visibility for Change Projects in Ukraine (May 2027)

Who can apply:

• The main participant must be a woman
• She applies together with a Home Team from the same organisation
• Home Teams can be mixed gender
• English is helpful but not required – facilitation and support will be provided

Two Days of Energy – In Every Sense of the Word!
Last week, I (Therese Rosenblad) had the privilege of attending the Glava Energy Center’s Annual Meeting and Energy Conference, and I’d like to share a few reflections from an experience that truly had it all.

From the very beginning, it was clear: the professionalism in ex*****on, the depth of knowledgeable and dedicated participants, and the high quality of presentations, speakers, and discussions. Everything was marked by a strategic focus and a shared determination to find solutions to some of our greatest societal challenges – the energy transition, grid capacity, sustainability, and innovation.

The conversations – both during the conference and at the dinner the evening before – were engaging, deep, and inspiring. It’s in these kinds of meetings that ideas are born and collaborations take flight.

As if that wasn’t enough, on the second day we also got to witness something truly unique: the inauguration of Solbron (The solar-bridge) – a world-unique test facility where solar panels float six meters above the ground on a structure inspired by suspension bridges. Behind this innovation stands S2H2+Bm Concept, which with this concept not only produces solar power but also enables continued land use – a visionary solution that could pave the way for the world’s largest solar-powered industrial park in Morocco.

The fact that this groundbreaking technology is being tested right here at Glava Energy Center, in an advanced test environment with wind and solar measurement equipment, truly shows the strength and potential of this innovation cluster.

And the setting… Hillringsbergs Herrgård and the surroundings of the Glava Energy Center are absolutely stunning. Discussing the future of energy solutions with a view over the lake and the Värmland landscape made the experience feel almost magical.

With a growing network of nearly 100 member companies and several future-oriented projects, Glava Energy Center is a shining example of how we can drive progress together – not only in Sweden but globally.

A huge thank you to Magnus Nilsson and the entire fantastic team at Glava Energy Center for two days filled with knowledge, energy, warmth, and hope for the future. You’re setting the bar high – and that’s exactly what’s needed right now.

Nominate the next Change Agent of the Year!

🏅 It is once again time to nominate a Change Agent of the Year, this time for 2025. The Change Agent of the Year is rewarded for acting as a role model that inspire others to find sustainable solutions and will receive 1 000 US dollars to be used for continued work for a sustainable future. As a LIFE alumni you can nominate yourself or other fellow LIFE alumni.

✅ To nominate yourself, describe what you have done after the LIFE Academy training programme and what insights and lessons learned that you gained from the programme that contributed to a change activity. Describe the change activity, for example, how you have successfully completed a sustainability project or a sustainable change within your organisation. It is important to include the results of the change activity and how you are acting as a role model that inspire others to find sustainable solutions.

✅ Simply send the nomination via email to [email protected] with the motivation of why you should receive the award. The motivation should be approximately 250-500 words.

✅ You are also welcome to nominate other fellow LIFE alumni with a motivation of why this person deserves to be a Change Agent of the Year.

Visit from National University of Management, Cambodia! ✨

🌏 Last week a group of students from National University of Management, Cambodia, visited LIFE Academy and Karlstad, Sweden. During the visit LIFE Academy had the chance to welcome and introduce Karlstad and Sweden and presentations and a discussion on cooperation possibilities between LIFE Academy and National University of Cambodia were shared. The group from Cambodia also prepared Khmer dishes during “Participants Party” and we enjoyed dinner, dancing and cultural exchange between Sweden and Cambodia with invited guests.

Apart from the visit at LIFE Academy the group visited Karlstad Municipality, Karlstad Business School and the Department of Risks and Environmental Studies at Karlstad University and Innovation Park.
