The new Guideline Fario is a dedicated trout fly reel, purpose-built, lightweight, and designed around the needs of modern fly anglers. Its geometry has been carefully optimized with large arbor diameters and narrower spool widths to improve line handling and retrieval efficiency.

The missing link between a shooting head and a full fly line — now upgraded: The ULS+ WF Multi Tip takes the ULS Multi Tip head and builds it into a complete weight forward line, with a short back taper, a handling section and an integrated running line.

This film started as a small project ... an idea to capture a special moment with a very special person.

To see it screened around Australia and New Zealand was already something we were incredibly grateful for.

Now it’s time for the next chapter.

We’re a Scandinavian company with deep roots across so many Scandinavian salmon rivers — Orkla is definitely one of them.

Despite the current situation in some of these rivers, we still believe in a brighter future for our beloved Atlantic salmon and our sport, and the new generation of anglers will play a key role. Today, Tellis Katsogiannos, Selje Cathrine Oftebro and Svein Mosbrynd Voll spent the morning with a group of young Orkla anglers with bright futures ahead, in one of the many demos the GL crew runs throughout the season.

The rivers we love don’t need fewer anglers — they need healthier rivers, for fish and anglers alike.

Why Granbo Flyfishing Prefers the New Compact Scandi Lines?

After spending time on the water testing the new Compact Scandi Bodies, a few situations stood out where I simply wouldn’t want to be without them.

1. Tight Casting Situations: A Compact body generates more energy in the Spey cast with less movement and a shorter casting stroke. I often fish salmon rivers with limited back cast space and bushy banks, and in those situations a Compact body is simply unbeatable.

2. Deep Wading: When you’re standing waist-deep in the river and trying to keep your casting mechanics efficient, a Compact body makes life much easier. Less effort, better control, and a huge advantage with a short shooting head.

3. Narrow Currents: This is something I’m passionate about: encouraging more anglers to use shorter heads in narrow runs. The difference in drift quality and fly control is night and day when comparing an 8.8m head to an 11.5m head in a current that’s only 12 meters wide.

My Favorite Compact Scandi Setups:

- 12’3” 6/7: Compact Scandi Body 20 g + Scandi Tip 12ft / 7g

- 12’9” 7/8: Compact Scandi Body 25g + Scandi Tip 15ft/9g

- 13’9” 8/9: Compact Scandi Body 29g + Scandi Tip 15ft / 9g

- 13’9” 9/10: Compact Scandi Body 29g + Scandi Tip 18ft / 13g

Final Thoughts: These bodies exceeded my expectations and have quickly earned a permanent place in my setup.
For situations where I need maximum distance, I’ll still reach for a Classic Scandi. But for versatility, control, tight spots, and technical fishing, the Compact Scandi Bodies are incredibly impressive.

Robert Hansson joins Guideline’s Ambassador team!

We are pleased to welcome Swedish fly fisherman and guide Robert Hansson ( Robert Hansson ) to the Guideline Ambassador team.

Robert is a highly versatile angler with a broad skill set across techniques, species and environments. While trout fishing in its many forms is his foundation, his approach reflects a deep understanding of adapting methods to conditions — whether in rivers, stillwaters or along the coast.

Based in Sweden, Robert spends much of the season guiding in Iceland with Fishpartner, operating in some of the most demanding and rewarding trout fisheries. His background also includes guiding in northern Sweden at Tjuonajokk and Ammarnäs, as well as the coastal waters of Gotland.

Beyond guiding, Robert has built a strong and engaged following across Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, where he shares authentic, experience-driven content from real days on the water — focusing on reading conditions, making adjustments and understanding fish behaviour.
