Ski Classics World Championship Season XVIII returns to Sportgastein on Saturday, December 19 for the Bad Gastein ITT — and with it, a first: the season's first-ever second consecutive weekend at the same venue, as the Bad Gastein Tour enters its final act.

Racing off individually over 7km of classic technique on a course that stays mostly flat, this is a test of pure, sustained speed. No drafting, no pack tactics — just a steady rhythm from start to finish, with every second counting toward 300 Tour points.

It's the third stop of our Bad Gastein Tour (Events 1–4), and the tension is building: prize money for the block is only decided once all four events are complete.

NEW ALTITUDE. FIRST GAPS.

Ski Classics World Championship Season XVIII continues Sunday, December 13 with the Sportgastein Criterium — a 30km mass start that turns from a fast valley cruise into the season's first real climbing test.

Skiers race several fast laps along the valley floor before the course turns skyward: 2.5km and 400m of climbing to the middle station of the Goldbergbahn lift, finishing at 1,910 meters above sea level. This is where the Climb bib favorites find out where they stand — pacing that final climb right matters more here than anything earlier in the race.

It's also the second stop of our Bad Gastein Tour: four events over two back-to-back weekends (Dec 11–20), with points counting as usual for the season, but prize money for the block only decided once all four are complete.

NEW SEASON. NEW FORMAT.

Ski Classics World Championship Season XVIII kicks off Friday, December 11 with the Bad Gastein Prologue — a 1km individual time trial straight through the streets of Bad Gastein, Austria.

No drafting. No team tactics. Just raw speed through the historic streets of the "Monaco of the Alps," lit up by Christmas lights as the sun goes down.

It's also the start of our first-ever Tour Competition: four events over two back-to-back weekends (Dec 11–20), with prize money for the block decided only once the Tour is complete.

Team Emtec Nordic: first team training camp with roller skiing, pizza and cats

The Swiss Pro Team, Team Emtec Nordic, made its debut in Ski Classics last season, finishing 25th in the Pro Team rankings. Now, with a new line-up, they have completed their first team training camp in Bavaria.

Ski Classics spoke with Pro Team athlete Manuela Deigentesch about training sessions, goals, and team bonding during the camp.
