🌅 Watch Team 3 on duty: Anna, Göran, and Anders! ⛵

After a long wait, we finally received our permits for Fiji, and at dawn this morning we set sail from the beautiful Bay of Islands.

We are now heading toward the port of Savusavu, where we’ll replenish our supplies before continuing our adventure. Excited to be back underway and looking forward to exploring Fiji’s stunning islands.

Fair winds and following seas! 🇫🇯⚓

The authorities have issued a weather warning, and no boats are allowed to head out until further notice. The crew has been keeping busy with maintenance, cooking, and watching bats the size of seagulls. We’re currently in the Bay of Islands, safely anchored and ready to ride out the approaching bad weather.

Let us present Watch Team 2: Adam (14), Jonas at the helm, and Dorin as watch captain. ⛵️

We’re making great progress towards Fiji, perhaps a little too great… Sailing along at 9–11 knots, our ETA has crept up to 04:00, while we’d much rather arrive at first light around 06:30. We may need to do a small lap around the island to avoid entering in the dark.

The entrance is narrow and surrounded by reefs, so daylight is definitely our friend! 🌅

Meanwhile, we’re working hard on another important mission: finishing all the pork on board before clearing into Fiji. Otherwise, it might end up as shark food! 🦈😁

Watch Team 1 setting off from Tonga towards Fiji. Nigel (WL), Christina, and 17-year-old Alexander at the helm. A good start to our crossing, with spaghetti Bolognese from the galley already something to look forward to.

After some more sailing practice yesterday the wind eased off and eventually left us with almost glassy conditions. We spent the day exploring caves and snorkeling in the crystal-clear water. We are now making our way back to the main island to take on provisions and prepare for clearance tomorrow before start of next leg. ⛵️🌊☀️

Dorin caught his first tuna 😀 and we prepared a delicious dinner for all.

Our first day with the new crew was dedicated to provisioning and exploring the local area. We wandered through a number of charming shops and visited the vibrant fruit and vegetable market. Later, we attended the semifinals of Tonga’s U-18 rugby tournament, where school teams from across the country competed at an impressively high level.

The following morning, we began the first passage of the trip, giving the new crew a chance to settle in and get comfortable onboard. Nigel delivered an informative briefing covering our sailing routines and daily operations. Along the way, we also stopped for a refreshing snorkeling session in crystal-clear waters.

We anchored in a stunning lagoon, enjoying a BBQ dinner beneath a magnificent tree that served as a unique open-air restaurant. A perfect setting to end another memorable day in Tonga.

We’re now waiting for the next stage of our journey. The crew has just landed, and we’re strolling around Neiafu, Tonga, waiting for them to make their way to Celeste.
