How to summarise the rest of the day? Well one picture says more than a thousand words as the saying goes. ➡️➡️

The second session was mainly kumite and bunkai training.
The third was breakfalls and nage waza.
the fourth was a mix since all the assistant instructors was given the opportunity to do what they felt was most needed/ most fun/ or most in line with what they wanted to teach.
The fifth and final session of the day was late practice, where one of the students trying for green belt started the session by leading the Junbi.

Overall, a fun day🥋💪

Everyone has different things that they like about what they do, karate is no exception and people will always be more interested in certain aspects than others.

For me it’s always been difficult to say, ”I think this is the most fun or interesting.”

Perhaps that’s why I like 分解, bunkai, so much, because it brings all the aspects together, the kihon, kumite (entangled hands), kata, with the possibility of clinch, being in close quarter with your opponent, and through the analysis, bringing it all together.

Announcement to all members of the Jundokan Family,
We are pleased to announce that Gima Sensei and Kinjo Sensei have been awarded the rank of 10th Dan by the Okinawa Karate Kobudo Federation.

This honor reflects their many years of dedication and achievements in Okinawa, the birthplace of karate.

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations.
We respectfully extend our heartfelt congratulations to Kinjo sensei and Gima sensei of the Jundokan for their 10th Dan gradings.

The double juji uke in sanseiru.

A classic take is that it’s blocking consecutive kicks towards the groin

The disadvantages however are as shown, more than the advantages.

1️⃣ you most likely have to lean forward quite much in order to protect the groin

2️⃣ unless you have really long arms, you’ll end up being kicked in the groin

3️⃣the forearms aren’t as strong as the opponents shinbones

4️⃣ when leaning forward you expose your head to your opponent.

5️⃣ it’s also unrealistic that an opponent would kick 2-3 times in a row.

That’s part of the reasons why I prefer going in closer and using the juji uke as a takedown and joint lock, as well as a collar choke.
