It is with profound sadness that SKC England announces the death of its Chairman and Chief Instructor, Shihan Eric Pich. Eric has been a pillar of the Shotokan karate movement in England since the early 1970s, firstly as a competor at international events and as the founder and instructor of many successful clubs around north and west London. He was for many years the chief instructor of the Cambridge University Karate Club, guiding them to an unprecedented number of successive victories in the Varsity games. He co-founded SKC England in 2010 and continued to support karate tournaments at national and international level as a coach, referee and tatami chief. Respected by all who gravitated within his ample sphere, Eric continued to teach in spite of the debilitating illness which would finally claim him. He leaves behind a wife, three children, nine grandchildren and a karate world full of people who are all the richer for having known him.
