Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre has a warning for one of boxing’s reigning world champions: leave Terence Crawford alone.

The former undisputed champion announced his retirement from boxing last December, but that hasn’t stopped the likes of Jaron Ennis and Ryan Garcia from repeatedly calling him out.

BoMac, Crawford’s former trainer, told Fight Hub TV that ‘Bud’ is unlikely to return unless someone like Garcia gives him a reason to step back into the ring.

“Ryan, stop. I don’t care if Crawford’s got one hand – you cannot touch him, so leave him alone. Let the man be happy in retirement before you wake a giant up. [He would] whoop your ass.”

Eddie Hearn believes Jaron Ennis could be the man to lure Terence Crawford out of retirement.

“I’ve wanted this fight for so long. I rate Crawford so highly, but I’m just such a huge believer in Jaron Ennis, and I think this will be the biggest fight in boxing.”

Hearn then explained what needs to happen for the blockbuster matchup to materialise, speaking to The Ring.

“Boots is probably going to fight Josh Kelly and has to see if he can beat him. If he beats him, he’ll fight Fundora, and if he becomes undisputed, I think the Crawford fight will happen.”

There were cheers and plenty of love as fans gathered to celebrate Katie Taylor's remarkable career and give her the victory lap she deserved.

"It was everything I expected and more," Taylor said at her final post-fight press conference.

"Thankfully, I was able to hold my emotions together tonight, as I was getting emotional all week and the last few months' preparation was so emotional.

"The atmosphere was so special. It was beyond my wildest dreams – what a special night."

And amid all the emotion, Taylor was reminded of the chants that had followed her throughout a career spanning some of the world's biggest stages.

"The 'ole ole oles' carried me all over the world: to Leeds, to Manchester, Brooklyn, Boston, Dallas, Manhattan," she reflected.

"This night is so special because I wanted to put on a performance for them. I don't think it was a career-best performance, but I got the win for them, just to say 'thank you'."

Katie Taylor bid an emotional farewell to boxing as the Irish star dominated Flora Pili in the final fight of her storied career at a packed Croke Park on Saturday.

The 40-year-old earned a unanimous decision to clinch the vacant WBC super-lightweight title and bow out as a three-time undisputed champion in front of 83,000 fans.

Taylor, an Olympic champion and two-weight undisputed champion, hangs up her gloves widely recognised as one of the greatest female boxers in history and a pioneering figure in women's sport.

It was also the first boxing event at Croke Park since Muhammad Ali fought Al "Blue" Lewis in 1972.

Taylor's win over Pili sees her retire with a professional record of 26-1, having suffered the only defeat of her career against Chantelle Cameron in May 2023.

"Croke Park, we did it, we brought boxing back to Croke Park," Taylor told DAZN after the fight.

"Every one of you here helped me win. You were with me in London 2012, you got me through the heartbreak of Rio, you stayed with me when I turned pro, you travelled around the world to watch me, now you're here with me.

"I don't know of any other country that would sell 80,000 tickets. Ireland is the only country."

The Olympic gold medallist and two-weight undisputed champion has won 25 of 26, with six stoppages.

Former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr has vowed to carry on after losing his comeback fight to Damian Knyba in New Jersey.

The 36-year-old shocked the boxing world seven years ago by beating Anthony Joshua to win his world titles.

Ruiz Jr has since been beset by injuries and was fighting for just the fourth time since losing the rematch to Joshua back in December 2019.

He was dropped last night in the seventh round and eventually lost by unanimous decision, with judges scoring it 117-110, 114-113 and 114-113.

"If that was the type of performance you're gonna get from Andy Ruiz," analyst Tim Bradley said, "he should have just stayed retired. He needs to go ahead and hang 'em up."

Andy Ruiz Jr. isn’t ready to call it a career after suffering a decision loss to Poland’s Damian Knyba in his comeback fight. The 36-year-old former heavyweight champion admitted that his long layoff played a role in the defeat, but he remains confident that he can still compete at the highest level and challenge for another world title.

“Of course I [believe I can still win a world title]. It was just a long layoff, and it was a great opponent. I didn't want to take an easy fight; that's why I took Damian. He's a big guy, but we've got to take risks. ... [I'm not done] just because of this loss. I've still got it in me. I just need to stay active. And I want to fight again.”
