GHC–NPA SPORTS & CULTURE SUMMER FESTIVAL 2026

Final Closing Ceremony – Oasis Sport Center

Following the closing activities held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at GS Mwendo, the Final Closing Ceremony of the GHC–NPA Sports and Culture Summer Festival 2026 took place at Oasis Sport Center on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

The ceremony brought together children, coaches, parents, partners, and other stakeholders to celebrate the successful completion of the Summer Festival.

As part of the closing activities, the best-performing participants from each discipline were recognized and awarded for their outstanding performance, commitment, discipline, and active participation throughout the Festival.

The award packages included school and educational materials such as mathematical sets , notebooks, as well as hygiene and sanitation materials, including soaps, basins, and other essential items.

These awards were intended to recognize the children's achievements while also encouraging them to remain committed to education, personal hygiene, discipline, and continued participation in sport.

The Final Closing Ceremony marked a successful conclusion to a Summer Festival that provided children and young people with opportunities to play, learn, create, develop talents, and build positive values through sport and culture.

GHC–NPA SPORTS AND CULTURE SUMMER FESTIVAL 2026 CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY

On Saturday, 29 August 2026, at GS Mwendo
Multipurpose Play Grounds, Gorillas Handball Club (GHC) successfully concluded the GHC–NPA Sports and Culture Summer Festival 2026, an initiative funded by We'll Never Play Alone St. Pauli (NPA), a partner organisation based in Germany.

The Summer Festival officially started on 1 August 2026 and was implemented across four venues: Oasis Sports Center Kigali, Kimisagara Youth Center, Imbuto Hub–Bugesera, and GS Mwendo.

The programme brought together more than 500 children from the different venues, supported by over 30 volunteer coaches who dedicated their time and expertise to training, mentoring, and engaging the children throughout the festival.

Main Activities:

The Summer Festival offered a diverse programme combining sports development, physical activity, culture, and youth empowerment. The main activities included:

- Handball Training Programme – introducing and developing fundamental handball skills, tactics, teamwork, and fair play.
- Special Goalkeeper (GK) Training Programme – providing specialised training focused on goalkeeper techniques and skills.
- Young Referees Training Programme – introducing young participants to the basic principles, rules, and responsibilities of handball officiating.
- Traditional Dance Training Programme – promoting Rwandan culture, creativity, discipline, and cultural expression through traditional dance.
- Multi-Sport Training Activities – giving children opportunities to experience and develop skills in Basketball, Volleyball, Karate, and Dodgeball.

Beyond sports training, the festival created a safe and inclusive environment where children could play, learn, create, develop confidence, build friendships, and discover new talents.

Gorillas Handball Club extends its sincere appreciation to Never Play Alone (NPA) for its continued financial support and partnership, to Future Stars Handball Academy, GS Mwndo, Imbuto Hub Bugesera as well as to all volunteer coaches, coordinators, parents, community leaders, venues, and partners who contributed to the success of the programme.

The successful conclusion of the 2026 Summer Festival marks another important step in GHC's commitment to using sport and culture as powerful tools for youth development, inclusion, talent identification, and community empowerment.

GHC AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF INTORE MU BIRUHUKO 🇷🇼🤾‍♂️

Today, Gorillas Handball Club (GHC) was present Oasis Sports Center Kigali during the Closing Ceremony of INTORE MU BIRUHUKO, a civic education programme dedicated to equipping Rwandan youth with national values that promote Unity, Sports, Education, Discipline, and Patriotism.

Our guests received a warm welcome from our young boys and girls, who demonstrated exceptional character, confidence, discipline, and enthusiasm throughout their presentation and participation.

We are proud of our young athletes for representing GHC and our values so well.

Gorillas Handball Club – Building Champions Beyond the Court. 🦍🤾‍♂️🇷🇼

The management of Gorillas Handball Club and Oasis Sports Center Kigali would like to inform all its members, partners and the public that the Oasis Sports Center/GHC team, which was part of the Rwanda Delegation participating in the FEASSSA Games held in Morogoro, Tanzania, from August 12th, 2026 to August 23rd has safely returned to Rwanda after the successful competitions and learning experiences.

In the coming days, the children and Caches will share with you what they gained and learned from participating in these Games, including the valuable experiences they acquired.

Oasis Sports Center/GHC made a significant contribution to the Rwanda teams, particularly in the U15 Girls and U15 Boys Teams, where:

- U15 Girls’ team won the Gold Medal 🥇

- U15 Boys’ team won the Bronze Medal 🥉

We sincerely thank the children, coaches, parents, and all our partners who contributed to making this journey successful.

Gorillas Sports and Culture Summer Festival activities are going on at Oasis Sports Center Kigali.

In preparation for the opening ceremonies schedule on Sunday, July 26th, 2026, today morning all participants had a meeting with all Volunteers Coaches to guide every child according to his preferred discipline/activity.

With a new generation of talented young players from our Academy Oasis Sports Center Kigali we concluded the first round of the 2nd Division National League in style.

As we begin the second round, our boys are determined and ready to represent Gorillas Handball Club with pride, commitment, and passion until the end of the regular season.

Together, we continue to build the future while striving for excellence on and off the court.
