I'm very pleased to publish a research paper in Catalysis Science and Technology (Royal Society of Chemistry).
In our recent research work, we have developed new dicationic ionic liquid catalysts for the conversion of CO2 to cyclic carbonates (as industrial raw materials, monomers for polycarbonates and polyurethanes, electrolytes for batteries, pesticides, cosmetics, paints, pharmaceutical and fine chemical intermediates, etc.). These catalysts have achieved good to excellent yields and selectivities in the capture of diluted CO2 and its conversion to cyclic carbonates via a cycloaddition reaction with epoxides; under mild and metal/solvent free conditions without organic solvents. This work provides a sustainable ionic liquid catalyst platform for value-added CO2 reuse, enabling carbon recycling in a circular economy. The efficiency under diluted CO2 provides viability for real-world flue gas applications.
