Getting sick more than your opponents? That’s not bad luck, it’s a strategy problem.
An athlete’s best ability is availability – if you’re sick, you can’t train, you can’t perform, and you can’t win.
You don’t get sick just from being cold… you get sick from exposure to viruses in crowded, poorly ventilated spaces.
Want fewer sick days and more training days? Save this and cover these basics ⬇️
Tips ✅
• Wash your hands with soap and water for ~20 seconds, especially after public spaces and before eating.
• Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer (≥60%) when soap and water aren’t available.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Consider an annual flu shot – do your own research and make your own decision.
• Stay physically active; consistent training supports immune function.
• Prioritize quality sleep (around 7–9 hours for most adults).
• Eat nutrient-dense foods: fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains.
• Stay home and rest when you’re sick so your whole team doesn’t catch it.
• Cover coughs/sneezes with a tissue or your elbow, then clean your hands.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
• When possible, avoid densely packed public spaces.
• Improve indoor air: open windows or use better ventilation/filters.
• Manage stress; high chronic stress weakens immunity.
This isn’t the sexy side of sport, but it’s often the difference between winning and losing.
Train hard. Stay healthy. Have fun. 🏋🏽♂️
