FC "Hercules" Lupeni a luat "nastere" oficial in toamna anului 2011,la initiativa unor oameni cu pasiune pentru fotbal.Este o echipa independenta,nu depinde de primarie sau alte institutii.Momentan,este singura echipa din orasul Lupeni. Echipa evoluează în Liga a lV-a România(sezon actual 2012-2013). În primul sezon (2011-2012) a evoluat în liga V-a Hunedoara ,promovând de pe locul al 3-lea.
