Welcome to Romania 🇷🇴 !
Welcome to Oradea!
Welcome to the next level of Ice Swimming!
Dear all frozen ones,
Molveno came and went in a flash, but the ICE remains in our veins. IISA is now announcing its 8th World Championship.
Many of you expected Megève in 2027. Unfortunately, renovations at the pool facility mean it will not be ready in time. We will return there in the future.
After discussions with several potential hosts, IISA has decided to return to Oradea, Romania. Located in north-west Romania in Transylvania, it offers strong facilities and a fitting environment for ice swimmers.
We are aiming for January 2027, with exact dates to be confirmed once we receive formal approval from the Oradea Aquatic Centre, which includes a 50m outdoor pool and a heated 50m indoor pool.
IISA is preparing significant changes in 2026, to be implemented in Oradea 2027. Details will be finalised by the IISA Board and committees, with safety and integrity as priorities.
In 2027, from Oradea, IISA will separate Elite and Age Group competitors (per distance). Swimmers must choose and qualify for one category and will only be eligible to record performances within that category. This will allow Elite and Age Group swimmers to compete in different events and support recognition of Elite records by World Aquatics and, ultimately, the IOC.
IISA is engaging with WADA and intends to run the Oradea 2027 Elite races in compliance with WADA standards. There are no plans to apply WADA requirements to Age Group swimmers at this stage.
IISA will also review its rules to clarify distinctions between the Elite and Age Group categories.
More is coming for the growing ICE.
Stay warm — see you in the ICE.
Please share and spread the ICE.
