🌱 Bulgarian Good Practice #4: OLYMPIC HIKE 🥾🌍

🌿 Take a hike. Connect with nature. Make a difference!

Can outdoor activities inspire students to become more environmentally responsible? Absolutely!

Today, we introduce OLYMPIC HIKE, an ongoing pilot initiative implemented by the Technical University of Varna in Varna, Bulgaria.

🌎 The idea is simple but powerful: combine hiking and outdoor physical activity with environmental education, encouraging students to stay active while developing a deeper appreciation for nature.

💚 What makes this practice special?

✅ Organises hiking events that encourage students to be physically active outdoors

✅ Integrates environmental awareness messages into outdoor activities

✅ Promotes responsible behaviour and respect for nature

✅ Strengthens student engagement and community spirit

✅ Uses university communication channels and social media to reach a wider audience

✅ Offers a low-cost, easy-to-replicate model that other educational institutions can adopt

🌍🌱 Empowering Teachers, Inspiring Students - for a Greener Future Through Sport! 🏃‍♀️💚

🇧🇬 The Bulgarian partner of the international GreenMascot project has successfully conducted a training session for teachers, focusing on environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable practices through sport.

👩‍🏫 During the training, participants were introduced to the project's objectives, educational materials, and opportunities for involving students in the International GreenMascot Student Contest 2026.

💡 The contest encourages student teams to develop creative ideas, initiatives, and solutions for protecting the environment through sport, as well as to design their own Green Mascot to represent their ideas.

🌿 We believe that teachers play a key role in fostering environmental awareness among young people. Through their guidance, knowledge and good practices can reach students and inspire meaningful action.

🤝 GreenMascot brings together partners from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Türkiye with a shared mission - to promote more sustainable sport and a cleaner environment.

💚 Together, we are turning sport into a driving force for positive change!

🌱 Bulgarian Good Practice #3: CLIMATE / SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION 🌍

🌿 Learn about climate. Act for a greener future!

Can interactive education inspire young people to make more sustainable choices? Absolutely!

Today, we introduce CLIMATE / SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION, an ongoing educational initiative implemented by **Eco Cluster Bulgaria** in Varna, Bulgaria, over the past four years.

🌎 The idea is simple but powerful: help students understand climate change through interactive workshops, climate simulations, teamwork, and practical learning experiences.

💚 What makes this practice special?

✅ Uses the En-ROADS climate simulator to explore climate solutions

✅ Combines interactive workshops, role-play, and teamwork

✅ Connects climate change to everyday lifestyle choices

✅ Has engaged over 400 students and 10 teachers

✅ Encourages environmental awareness and sustainable habits among young people

We Have Successfully Completed Our GreenMascot Teachers’ Workshop!

As Project Partner 2 (PP2) of the GreenMascot Project (BSB01069), funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, we successfully completed our Teachers’ Workshop within the framework of Activity 1.6 – International GreenMascot Student Contest! 🌱

🎓 The workshop brought together 10 teachers from 3 schools selected through an open call. During the session, participants were introduced to the rules and participation procedures of the international student contest, along with the Teacher Toolkit, designed to support teachers in guiding students throughout the competition.

The workshop also focused on preparing students to develop innovative, sport-based ideas that promote environmental protection and sustainability.

We sincerely thank all participating teachers for their valuable contributions and support!

Together, we are working towards a greener future through the power of sport!

🌱 Bulgarian Good Practice #2: LESS PLASTICS ♻️

💧 Less plastic. More sport. Greener future!

Can small changes in sports events make a big difference for the environment? Absolutely!

Today, we introduce LESS PLASTICS, a green sports initiative implemented by the Bulgarian Paralympic Federation in Sofia, Bulgaria (September 2025).

🌿 The idea is simple but impactful: replace single-use plastic bottles with reusable ones during para sport competitions, encouraging athletes and coaches to adopt more sustainable habits.

💚 What makes this practice special?

✅ Promotes reusable water bottles at sports events
✅ Encourages water refills and reduces plastic waste
✅ Engages 40 participants from 8 sports clubs
✅ Helps avoid over 100 single-use plastic bottles
✅ Inspires sustainable habits in the sports community

🌱 GreenMascot Student Contest Preparations in Çorlu! 🌍🏆

As part of the GreenMascot Project (Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme – BSB01069), PP2 Çorlu Municipality Youth and Sports Club held meetings with schools in Çorlu to introduce the upcoming GreenMascot Student Contest.

During the meetings, we shared information about the competition, discussed the participation process, and encouraged schools to engage students in developing creative ideas that combine sports, environmental sustainability, and climate awareness.

Together, we are inspiring young people to take action for a greener future! 🌿

🌱 Bulgarian Good Practice #1: 3P - Plogging, Plalking, Pliking

🏃‍♂️🚶‍♀️🥾 Move for your health. Act for the planet!

Can physical activity help protect the environment? Absolutely!

Today, we introduce 3P - Plogging, Plalking, Pliking, an inspiring green sports initiative implemented by Association BIONETWORK in Varna, Bulgaria (2023-2025).

🌿 The idea is simple but powerful: combine jogging, walking and hiking with collecting litter from public spaces and natural areas.

💚 What makes this practice special?

✅ Encourages active and healthy lifestyles
✅ Brings volunteers and sports clubs together
✅ Helps create cleaner public and natural spaces
✅ Raises environmental awareness through practical action
✅ Tracks collected waste to measure environmental impact

As part of European Mobility Week, our Night Walk brought together sport, climate awareness and nature with the participation of Çorlu Municipality and local residents.

During the walk, we also introduced GreenMascot (BSB01069), highlighting how sport can inspire environmental responsibility and more sustainable lifestyles. 💚

Çorlu Belediyesi Gençlik ve Spor Kulübü (ÇBSK), Project Partner 2 (PP2), shares this good practice as an example of connecting active communities with environmental awareness.

🌿 Good Practice from Türkiye #8 – Green Pedal 🇹🇷🇪🇺

As part of GreenMascot (BSB01069), Çorlu Belediyesi Gençlik ve Spor Kulübü (ÇBSK), Project Partner 2 (PP2), presents Green Pedal — connecting physical activity, energy generation and climate awareness! 🚴⚡

The model turns pedalling into an interactive learning experience, with digital displays showing generated electricity and estimated CO₂ savings in real time. It encourages people of all ages to explore the connection between active lifestyles and environmental responsibility.

💚 Every pedal brings us closer to a cleaner, greener future!

🌿 Good Practice from Türkiye #7 – Çorlu Green Sports Games 🇹🇷🇪🇺

As part of GreenMascot (BSB01069), Çorlu Belediyesi Gençlik ve Spor Kulübü (ÇBSK), Project Partner 2 (PP2), presents a model bringing together sport, sustainability and youth participation! 🏃♻️

Through thematic sports stations, team challenges, waste separation activities and a collective park clean-up, Çorlu Green Sports Games connects physical activity with practical environmental learning.

💚 Playing together, learning together and taking action for a greener community!
