Cât timp ai petrecut pregătind ceva ce ai fi putut începe acum câteva luni?

Lucrând cu angajați în tranziție câtre soloprenoriat și cu soloprenori la început de drum, am observat unele tipare de gânduri și comportamente care se repetă: 4 în special.

Tiparele astea se mai numesc sabotori și au o logică internă care, la prima vedere, pare să protejeze.
De fapt, în practică, țin oamenii pe loc.

Uite care sunt tiparele pe care le-am observat în sesiunile de coaching și cm apar în soloprenoriat:

Perfecționistul
„Nu pot să lansez așa, mai trebuie verificat și rafinat site-ul.”
„Mai am nevoie de un curs/certificare înainte să pot să spun că fac asta.”

Revizuiește la nesfârșit oferte, postări, pagini de prezentare. Pregătește lucruri care ar fi putut genera venit de mult.
Investește disproporționat de mult timp în detalii pe care clientul nu le observă.

Evitantul
„Mai bine mă ocup de partea asta administrativă, e mai urgentă.”
„O să mă apuc de vizibilitate săptămâna viitoare, când am mai mult timp.”

Se refugiază în task-uri de organizare, research, pregătire, în loc să ia acțiunile care duc la progres: postări, networking, vânzare.
În primii ani, poate să aibă un business mai mult pe hârtie, fără clienți.

People pleaser
„Nu vreau să pară că vând agresiv.”
„Dacă cer prea mult, o să-i deranjez și n-o să mai lucreze cu mine.”
„Îi las pe ei să decidă ce au nevoie, eu mă adaptez.”

Oferă discounturi din teamă, lucrează gratis ca să prindă încredere, acceptă proiecte care nu i se potrivesc, ca să nu dezamăgească.
Îi e foarte greu să crească prețuri, pentru că prețul presupune să ceară ceva pentru el/ea.

Criticul
„X și Y au început cam în același timp cu mine și sunt deja mult mai departe.”
„N-a ieșit proiectul ăsta. Mă fac de râs. Toată lumea a văzut că am dat-o în bară.”

Se compară cu ceilalți, interpretează eșecul/refuzul ca dovadă a incompetenței, vorbește despre propriul business cu un ton dur.
În primii ani, își poate transforma eforturile în oportunități de a se critica și crede că nu e suficient.

Several years ago, I was sitting in a meeting and feeling disengaged.

At the time I told myself it was normal, that everyone gets tired of their job sometimes.
So I pushed through, I adapted and did the job well, while feeling a call for something different.

I’ve learned you can be excellent at your job and still be lost in it. You can have the title, the salary and still lie awake wondering if this is really it.

I’ve also been on the other side, where I find purpose, impact and satisfaction in my work. That only came after I intentionally worked on the change (in coaching, therapy).

I hear this often in coaching sessions from clients: “I have low self-confidence. I want to be more confident.”

This low self-confidence is a result of them not taking action.
That confidence comes with/from taking action.

Before self-confidence comes self-trust.

In my personal experience and in my experience working with clients I saw that having self-trust can help us start taking said action.

Let me take you back a few years.
I was working in a finance role and it was a good job with a great team, but after a while I wanted to do something different. I wanted to help people grow at work.
I already had training experience, I liked working with people, interacting with them and helping them develop their skills.
That drive and interest in learning took me from Finance to Learning & Development in a Tech organisation.

Then, a few years later, from employee to solopreneur coach and trainer.
I had no client roster, but I started building anyway. If I'd waited for confidence to show up, I'd probably still be working away doing finance reports in Excel.
I trusted that I could figure it out, knowing I’m the kind of person who learns, adapts, makes the effort, who networks.

I didn't feel confident starting. I felt both enthusiasm and worry, but I acted anyway, because I trusted myself to do the work and follow my mission. Confidence came later.

I see self-trust as the conviction that we can rely on our own thoughts, decisions and behaviours to get us where we want to go.

If I were to put them in order, it would be: self-trust → action→ self-confidence.

I've been working with career changers and aspiring solopreneurs across Europe, who experience perfectionism, for a while now.

They live in different countries and yet, while talking to them, regardless if they’re from Berlin, or from Barcelona I’ll hear similar stories about what they tell themselves.

The things that have come up over and over in coaching are:
- They want to make a role or career change, want to start their own business and they research a lot.
- They do the same task multiple times.
- They overthink (all that mental energy spent circling a decision instead of doing something).
- They feel drained, like their job is eating their energy instead of fueling their drive.
- They feel restless, like they need to do something different, but they’re not 100% sure what.
- They repeatedly think: “I don’t see the impact in the work I’m doing now. I want to do something with purpose.”
- They've spent years building expertise and starting something different is scary.
- They experience self-doubt often.
- They talk harshly to themselves.
- They think: "I don't see the impact in what I'm doing. I want to do something that matters."

But the same struggles have different contexts depending on where they live and work.

In places with strong direct feedback cultures, perfectionism comes with the fear of showing anything unfinished, because they've been trained to expect blunt comments.

People who are already hard on themselves criticise their own work before they deliver it.

In more modesty prone cultures, I see perfectionism hiding behind self-deprecating humor.

Downplaying achievements becomes a safe move socially.

In cultures with a history of working long hours, boundary setting or career change conversations come with guilt about not working enough, about wanting something different.

In multilingual, multicultural environments, I see competence and identity get fused together, people feel the need to prove themselves more.

All this being said, my experience has shown me that none of these are unique to one country.
