Flytying Hand-tied Flies for Fly Fishing! http://hand-tied-flies.blogspot.com Fishing with a hand-tied fly is more than a passion; it is a state of mind. Good luck!

Practiced by millions around the world, it only has hundreds of adepts in Romania. It is considered a noble sport, an art and, moreover, a means of respecting the nature. You don’t have to be part of the aristocracy in order to practice this sport. More than 25 years ago, I was impressed by a peasant fisher in the village of Mara (an old village in northern Romania). On the banks of the river, he

was tying an artificial fly with the wool of his colored rugs and some feathers of his rooster. He used modest utensils, but practiced a fishing style that was elegant and clean, just like an English Lord. Unfortunately, many of our fellows’ going outs look more and more disrespectful, reflected in the dramatic decline of the fish population. Tying flies is the occupation that keeps the fisher "near water" during long winters. Although it seems hard to make, with the minimum will, materials bought from shops or collected at home, fly tying brings enjoyment to any fisher. Nothing compares with the joy of catching fish with the fly you tied. After all, if the flies are elegantly presented on the water, you will surely catch a fish. I am talking here about the proper equipment, launching technique and presenting the fly on the water. Anyone who has ever met and watched a fisher with artificial flies believes this style is difficult. If you think of approaching this fishing style, here’s an advice: do not abandon the idea. Future satisfactions are totally worth the effort.
