UCI Road World Championships - Doha 2016 Official account of the 2016 UCI Road World Championships held in Doha, Qatar from 9 to 16 October 2016 The first edition took place in Denmark.

The State of Qatar hosts the World Road Championships organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale Doha, 9 to 16 October 2016. Doha will host around 1000 racers from 75 countries and more than 5700 participants from national federations, delegations, technicians and journalists in addition to around 30,000 fans and millions of spectators from all over the world. In Doha 2016, The Road World Cham

pionships are different! RWC is an annual event, which the UCI has been organizing since 1921. By hosting the UCI RWC in Doha 2016, Qatar will become the first Middle East country to stage it and the second Asian country after being hosted by Japan in 1990. The unforgettable experience will be totally different as for the first time; the broadcasting will be through very outstanding parkour with the surroundings of the Arabian Gulf, Katara Cultural Village and The Pearl. The Arabian well-known hospitality, the windy weather, the gulf surroundings, and the generous touches will add different flavors to 2016 Championships.

A record number of 950 riders, belonging to 72 different nationalities and residing in 38 countries, took part in the Ride of Champions during UCI Doha 2016. The Ride was the biggest-ever turnout of local and international cyclists for an event organised in Qatar.
