Your equipment isn't just kit. It's your retention rate.

Here's five mistakes that quietly cost you members:

1. Outdated cardio: Old and noisy makes the whole room feel cheap.

2. Worn strength kit: Cracked upholstery turns people away before they've tried the machine.

3. No connectivity: No Bluetooth, no tracking, no reason to log the session.

4. Ignored functional zones: Worn out and uninspiring kills the energy on the floor.

5. A dated entrance: If your hero zone doesn't land, you won't keep the member who just walked through it.

Two years is when the shortcuts show up.

Five design choices that come back on you:

1. Signing the lease before the layout: Columns in the wrong place aren't a design problem, they're a permanent one.

2. Filling every inch with machines: People need room to move, warm up and push a sled.

3. One flat lighting colour across the whole floor: Warm in recovery, cooler in performance. That difference is what reads as premium.

4. No thought for airflow or acoustics: If the room smells like sweat, that's a design fault, not a cleaning one.

5. Cheap flooring. It cracks under real training, and the noise costs you credibility.

Every one of these is cheap to fix on a drawing and expensive to fix on site.
