Zafran Cricket Club-Qatar (ZCCQ), is the first registered Kashmiri cricket club in Qatar playing under the aegis of Qatar Cricket Association. It was set in 2014, at Corniche Doha, by a group of friends and cricket enthusiasts, with the objective of uniting and inspiring Kashmiri diaspora in Qatar through cricket. With the primary aim of community building through cricket, the club serves as a pla

tform to sports enthusiasts and attracts many Kashmiri cricket aficionados to this unique game, despite being miles away from home.Today, the club has two cricket teams, Zafran XI and Wular XI playing under its umbrella.

Zafran Cricket Club produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Serendib Squad by 74 runs in their 20-over clash at KREEQ Barwa Village, Doha. Zafran’s innings was built on a solid opening partnership of 92 runs, with Sumit scoring a fluent 51 and Junaid Hassan contributing 42. The momentum continued in the middle order as Huzaib Lone scored 40, supported well by Assad’s quick 34, helping Zafran post a mammoth total of 231/5.

In reply, Serendib Squad failed to gain control of the chase thanks to disciplined bowling from Captain Azhar Hussain and a magical spell from Mubashir, who was awarded Best Bowler for his figures of 2 wickets for 28 runs in his allotted 4 overs.

Huzaib Lone capped off a memorable outing by scoring 40 runs off just 17 balls at a strike rate of 235.29 and also claiming 2 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs, earning him the Man of the Match award.

It was the first game of the 3-match series and the first match of the new season between QCCQ and Zafran.
QCCQ won the toss and decided to bat first. They scored 144 runs in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets.

Zafran chased the target successfully, scoring 145 in 18.2 overs with 7 wickets down, and won the match by 3 wickets.

Man of the Match: Azhar– 30 runs from 26 balls and 2 wickets
Best Batter: Huzaib – 47* runs from 21 balls
Best Bowler: Amir Khan – 2 crucial wickets
Best Contribution: Shahkar – 26 runs from 31 balls

A good performance was also seen from QCCQ’s wicket keeper Tajweez , who scored 38 runs from 44 balls and took a sharp catch behind the wickets.
