The first weekend of summer marked the opening round of the UIM F2 World Championship season in Klaipėda, Lithuania. This annual event returned to Klaipėda for the fourth consecutive year, once again delivering challenging racing conditions. The waters of Klaipėda are never easy for the drivers, with rough waves, strong winds, and unpredictable weather testing both skill and endurance.
Saturday’s qualifying saw the Wiberg Racing team dominate throughout the session, securing the top positions. Peter Morin completed the top three after a strong performance.
Sunday’s race day brought a different story. Mathilda Wiberg was in outstanding, leading the race with confidence and taking a well-deserved victory. Peter Morin made a fantastic start, moving into second place on the opening lap and maintaining the position to the finish, securing an excellent second place.
The home crowd had plenty to cheer about as Edgaras Riabko made his debut on home waters. Despite qualifying sixth, he delivered a phenomenal start and quickly moved into third place. The Lithuanian driver held his position throughout the race, earning an impressive podium finish in front of his home crowd.
With a successful season opener completed, the teams are now turning their attention to Round 2 of the UIM F2 World Championship, which will take place in Brindisi, Italy, from 26–28 June.
