Over the weekend, I carried my little nephew who is about 10kg heavy. A big boy for a 6 months old. He is too cute and even fell asleep while I was rocking him. His mother warned me that I am going to get aches the next day. I did get aches on one side but I stretched the aches away :)
Young mothers do suffer quite a bit but I think the grand parents are in pain too. Well..."happy" aches because they get to spend time with their grand kids.
Besides extra load, poor posture and chest breathing contribute to neck and shoulder pains.
Some of the most common reasons are:
- muscle strain from too much screen time
- wear and tear in the neck joints as we age
- a pinched nerve
- whiplash or another injury
- Stress can also make neck pain feel worse
The good news is that small daily habits can help. Learn how to strengthen your postural muscles, know how to elongate your spine, gaze far , gentle stretches and most importantly...learn how to breathe properly.
If your neck pain comes with tingling, numbness, weakness, or pain going down the arm, please get it checked.
Take good care of your neck and shoulders because when the pain comes during or before your holiday. This is not fun. Proper regular practices help.
