CAMPEONATO EUROPEU DA CLASSE SHARPIE 12 m²

Chegou ao fim o Campeonato Europeu da Classe Sharpie 12 m² 2026! Foi uma semana memorável de vela que ficará certamente na história da Associação Náutica da Torreira, do Município da Murtosa, da Vila da Torreira, da Classe Sharpie e de todos aqueles que tiveram o privilégio de participar e acompanhar este extraordinário evento desportivo.
Após a apreciação e deliberação dos protestos apresentados no final da jornada de ontem, foram durante a tarde oficialmente homologadas e divulgadas as classificações finais do campeonato, confirmando os grandes vencedores desta edição.
O título de Campeões Europeus da Classe Sharpie 12 m² de 2026 foi brilhantemente conquistado, e no caso revalidado, pela embarcação NED 128 – "SPOTVOGEL", composta pelo skipper Patrick Van Raalte, representante do clube WV de Doordrijver, e pelo proa Jeroen Kool, ambos dos Países Baixos, que defenderam com enorme classe e categoria o título europeu conquistado o ano transato, voltando a demonstrar toda a sua qualidade, desta vez, no plano de água da Torreira, na Ria de Aveiro.
O pódio ficou assim constituído:

Merece igualmente uma referência muito especial a prestação da embarcação POR 56 – "FIFTY SIX", que terminou na 9.ª posição da classificação geral, da qual era tripulante o proa Paulo Silva, atleta da Associação Náutica da Torreira. O excelente desempenho de Paulo Silva, no campo de regatas da sua casa, constitui um motivo de enorme orgulho para a ANT, refletindo o talento, dedicação e qualidade dos nossos atletas.
O encerramento oficial do campeonato decorreu ao final da tarde, na Estalagem Riabela, onde teve lugar o jantar de gala, seguido da cerimónia de entrega de prémios, num ambiente de grande confraternização entre atletas, dirigentes, organização, amigos, patrocinadores, parceiros e voluntários.
A cerimónia contou com a presença do Presidente e Vice-Presidente da Câmara Municipal da Murtosa, do Capitão do Porto de Aveiro, bem como do Presidente e do Secretário da Junta de Freguesia da Torreira, que muito nos honraram neste momento de celebração do desporto e da vela.
Foi perante todos os participantes que os novos Campeões Europeus receberam o troféu que simboliza mais uma extraordinária conquista, revalidando o título europeu conquistado anteriormente e confirmando, uma vez mais, a excelência da equipa neerlandesa.
Para a Associação Náutica da Torreira termina uma semana inesquecível. Foram meses de preparação e seis dias intensos de competição, marcados por um extraordinário espírito desportivo, pelo ambiente familiar e de amizade entre todos os participantes e por condições de navegação verdadeiramente excecionais proporcionadas pela Ria de Aveiro.
A todos os velejadores, equipas, Comissão de Regatas, voluntários, funcionários, parceiros de organização, entidades públicas e privadas e a todos quantos contribuíram para o sucesso deste Campeonato Europeu, a Associação Náutica da Torreira deixa uma palavra de profundo agradecimento.

The 2026 European Championship Sharpie 12 m² has come to an end, bringing to a close a memorable week of sailing that will undoubtedly remain in the history of the Torreira Nautical Association, the Municipality of Murtosa, the village of Torreira, the Sharpie Class, and everyone who had the privilege of taking part in and following this outstanding sporting event.
Following the review and resolution of the protests lodged at the end of yesterday's racing, the official final standings of the championship were approved and published during the afternoon, confirming the overall winners of this edition.
The 2026 Sharpie 12 m² European Championship was brilliantly won—and successfully defended—by NED 128 – "SPOTVOGEL", sailed by skipper Patrick Van Raalte, representing WV de Doordrijver, together with crew member Jeroen Kool, both from the Netherlands. With outstanding skill and consistency, they successfully defended the European title won last year, once again demonstrating their exceptional sailing abilities, this time on the waters of Torreira, in the Ria de Aveiro.

Special recognition is also due to POR 56 – "FIFTY SIX", which finished in an excellent 9th place overall. Among her crew was Paulo Silva, a sailor from the Associação Náutica da Torreira. Paulo's outstanding performance, competing before his home crowd and on his home waters, is a source of great pride for ANT and reflects the talent, commitment and quality of our sailors.
The official closing of the championship took place in the late afternoon at Estalagem Riabela, where the Gala Dinner was held, followed by the Prize-Giving Ceremony, in a warm atmosphere of friendship and fellowship among sailors, race officials, judges, organisers, friends, sponsors, partners and volunteers.
The ceremony was honoured by the presence of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Murtosa, the Captain of the Port of Aveiro, as well as the President and the Secretary of the Torreira Parish Council, whose attendance greatly enriched this celebration of sailing and sport.
In front of all participants, the new European Champions received the trophy symbolising yet another remarkable achievement, successfully defending their European title and once again confirming the excellence of the Dutch team.
For the Torreira Nautical Association, this marks the end of an unforgettable week. It followed months of preparation and six intense days of competition, characterised by an outstanding sporting spirit, a warm family atmosphere and friendship among all participants, and truly exceptional sailing conditions provided by the Ria de Aveiro.
To all sailors, teams, race officials, volunteers, staff, partners, public and private institutions, and everyone who contributed to the success of this European Championship, Associação Náutica da Torreira extends its deepest gratitude.
