Why I created a Pilates Foot to Hip Class?
Many of my clients come to me because they're noticing changes in their mobility, balance, strength, or comfort when walking and moving about their day.
Often, the problem doesn't start where the pain is felt.
Our feet are the foundation of the body. If the feet aren't moving and supporting us well, it can affect the ankles, knees, hips, back, and even balance.
Likewise, if the hips become stiff or weak, everyday movements such as walking, climbing stairs, getting up from a chair, or balancing on one leg can become much more difficult.
That's why I run a specialised Pilates Foot to Hip class.
In this class, we work on both strength and mobility, because healthy joints need both.
Being flexible without strength doesn't provide stability, and being strong without mobility can limit movement.
The video shows a few examples of the exercises we use.
Some are based on traditional Pilates principles, while others are inspired by physiotherapy exercises.
Here we're challenging balance with the support of a wall, improving hip mobility, strengthening the hip flexors, and encouraging the feet and ankles to work more effectively.
Throughout the class, we work in standing and on the floor, always adapting exercises to suit individual abilities.
The goal isn't to perform complicated movements
—it's to help people move more comfortably, confidently, and efficiently in everyday life.
As we age, maintaining strong, mobile feet and hips becomes increasingly important.
They play a huge role in balance, posture, walking, and reducing unnecessary strain on the knees and back.
🌟The key to feeling better isn't working harder—it's working smarter and addressing the areas that are often overlooked.
