Our surf school is located in São Vicente, Madeira Island’s capital of surfing, and we’re the perfect choice for your surfing experience or SUP tours on the island. Whether you’re a beginner, an expert, a professional athlete or rather curious about this lifestyle, here you’ll find waves that suit your level of expertise over a breath-taking landscape. Our life takes place in the ocean, so we offer you a varied set of experiences ranging from SURF to SUP: a one-time experience or packs of private/group lessons, specialized training or just a couple of lessons for beginners, the choice is yours! We’ll give our very best to make you enjoy, as safely as possible, an authentic experience where you’ll feel at one with nature and the ocean!

What you’ll be up to 👇

☕ Breakfast and guest care at the Lodge
🏡 Keeping the house and rooms tidy and welcoming
🏄 Supporting the surf school: front desk, before and after lessons
📸 Taking photos during lessons and creating content for our socials

⏰ Around 6–7 hours a day, on a flexible rotating schedule

We had an amazing time celebrating
European Sport Week with an epic Surf Baptism session at Faja da Areia, São Vicente! ⛰️☀️

For some, it was their very first time on a surfboard, with a few wipeouts, plenty of laughs and hopefully the beginning of a new passion for surfing! 🏄🏽

Surfing starts before you even get in the water 🌊

Before every lesson, we spend some time on the beach going through the theory behind surfing — and it’s just as important as the time spent in the water

Step by step, or ‘pouco a pouco’ as we say in Portuguese, we cover everything from board parts and how your board works, to positioning, paddling, pop-up technique and ocean awareness. Practicing the movements on land helps you understand the technique and build muscle memory before putting it into practice in the waves

It also gives our instructors a chance to correct your technique early, so you can feel more confident and comfortable once you’re in the water 🩵

Because the more you understand on the beach, the more you can focus on having fun in the ocean 🤙🏽
