Fantastic few days at the Portimão Circuit

After some time off the bike, I’m delighted with how the weekend went. The motorcycle performed faultlessly, and I’m really pleased with the progress we made. The lap times we achieved throughout the weekend were beyond my expectations and a massive positive.

A few changes made to the bike before the trip improved the bike's feel and gave me the confidence to push early for fast laps and consistent improvements.

Huge thanks to everyone who’s supported me over the years and helped make all of this possible. I am excited to see what’s next.

That’s Thundersport GB Donington test day all completed. I have had a great day getting myself used to the bike again after 11 months since my last race.

The rain arrived in the early morning meaning I sat out of the first two sessions hoping for some better weather.

The third session was mostly dry with damp patches where I got out on the bike

In the afternoon sessions I chipped away at my times, changed gearing and got more comfortable with the bike.

Today has been a great day back out on the bike and I can’t wait for the racing tomorrow and Sunday

A massive thank you to everyone who makes it possible

Anglesey Race Report

Testing went well with me re-learning the track after a 2-year gap along with adapting to how to ride the track on the bigger bike. Throughout the day I improved my times and was feeling confident heading into qualifying, despite a crash in the last session.

Qualifying. I went quicker than I had done the day before and managed a 1:12.0 putting me 9th in class.

Race 1. I had an average start holding my position and managing to tag onto the back of the group ahead. Unfortunately, in the early laps I could feel that something was wrong with the gearbox and due to a few missed gears, I couldn’t run with the pace of the group. This was a very hard race as I spent most of the race on my own with no one close enough in front or behind to pose a threat. I nursed the bike home for 9th in class.

On the Sunday afternoon/night we identify the issues with the gearbox replacing what parts we had rebuilding the bike ready for Monday’s racing.

Warm up. I went out with the intention of testing the gearbox. The gearbox was a lot better than race 1 however not perfect so I pulled in after 2 laps to preserve the bike and get ready for Race 2. I finished this session 4th in class.

Race 2. Once again, I managed to run with the group ahead however, this time I was a lot more comfortable at the pace. In the early part of the race there was an incident, and the race was Red Flagged. Due to the delays this race was rerun at the end of the day as a sprint race.

Race 3. I had a great few opening laps and settled into 5th in class for the remainder of the race. This was another race where all I had to do was manage the gap behind and keep a consistent pace.

Race 2 Restart. For the restart I was in a good position moving up 4 positions on the grid due to my opening laps in the earlier race. I had a great start and in with the podium battle for the early laps. I couldn’t stay with that group once I had lost the tow due to a missed gear and I settled for another 5th in class.

Overall, a very enjoyable weekend at an extremely picturesque circuit and a very special thanks to Fairway Carpets Retford for the additional support this weekend.

I wish the very best to Mike Coxon and Brandon McCabe for a full and speedy recovery.

A Massive thank you to all the marshal’s medics and officials who enable these events to run.

We have had a great test day on zx6 with Thundersport GB. I have been progressing throughout the day and we are in a good place for the Racing tomorrow and bank holiday Monday.

Unfortunately I had a small crash into the banking where I tucked the front however, my HAWKS RACE WEARS leathers have done their job and kept me safe. They have held up brilliantly with only a few scuffs as evidenced of the crash.

TSGB Donington Park

On practice day we suffered some electrical issues in the morning however the team got them sorted out quickly so we didn't lose to much time. In the afternoon sessions we experimented with geometry and gearing to try and get me more comfortable on the bike. We made good progress and I felt a lot happier than when we first arrived.

Qualifying I had quite a good qualifying on Saturday morning, despite being a little slower than I had been in practice, I ended up 10th in class.

Race 1 I had a good start but unfortunately the quick shifter broke on the 3rd lap however, I ran a good race battling for 8/9 at a
consistent pace and not making any mistakes. Sadly on the last lap I was forced to run on into the gravel at coppice, getting stuck ending my race, 2 corners early.

Warm up My only goal for warm up was to make sure the new quick shifter was all functioning correctly therefore I only did 1 flying lap in traffic and pulled in.

Race 2 I got a good start and settled in to a rhythm swapping positions with another rider for 8th before settling into 9th to finish the race.

Race 3 we made a change to the bike hoping to move forward again however, from the first lap I realised that we had gone in the wrong direction. I had a battle with a group of riders for 10th then I was almost taken out by a bike sliding across the track. This meant I lost my drive and fell to the back of the group, unfortunately I couldn’t recover and finished 13th.

Although we didn't get the results we were hoping for over the weekend we know the direction we are going in for the next round at Anglesey and we can’t wait to get back out again.

Once Again I would like to thank everyone who makes it possible for me to race, the volunteers, medical staff, officials and my personal sponsors.
