⚔️ The kids team dominated the Grappling Industries DMV with 12 gold medals.

🥈 The kids took second overall with less than half of the athletes of the first overall team.

🏆 Special shoutouts to our Champions: Tawan, Cameron, Hadassah, Evelyn, Enrique, Kohen, Manny, and Colten.

It was a tough day with multiple evacuations into the hot sun, but the team stayed composed and performed anyway. A few of them will also be competing this weekend in the New Jersey Open in preparation for the big show in July.

Great work kids, let’s keep up this positive momentum! 🔥

🐭 We are overwhelmingly appreciative to Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson for coming to Crazy 88 and teaching all of our MMA athletes.

He demonstrated a lot about how to manage distance. We had a wide range of skill levels in the seminar and everyone walked away with something new. We even had quite a few visitors from other gyms!

Thank you Mighty Mouse. We hope to host you again the the future 🤝

💚 We are honored to invite you to a special 2-hour seminar on Saturday, June 27th at our Elkridge location in honor of our student, Justin Timmins.

Justin touched the lives of so many within our community, and we are proud to celebrate his memory by supporting a cause that is deeply meaningful. All proceeds from this seminar will be donated to the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention to help raise awareness, provide resources, and support those affected by mental health struggles.

Participants will have the opportunity to choose up to two styles to train during the seminar. We will offer Gi Jiu-Jitsu, No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, and Muay Thai, with a switch halfway through the event so everyone can experience the classes that interest them most.

This event is about more than training, it’s an opportunity for us to come together as a community, honor Justin’s memory, support an important cause, and make a meaningful impact. Whether you trained alongside Justin, knew him personally, or simply want to support mental health awareness, we hope you’ll join us. 💚

🤎 Pairin Sullivan Promoted to Brown Belt

Pairin has been an instrumental part of our Jiu Jitsu program for years. A favorite teammate both on and off the mats, she shows up every day with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a drive to compete whenever the opportunity arises.

Recently, she has begun sharing her knowledge by teaching her spider lasso system during our Friday Nest groups, continuing to give back to the team that helped shape her journey.

🥇 Her purple belt career was nothing short of impressive, highlighted by six IBJJF Grand Slam medals, including a gold medal at the no gi world championships. And we know she will accomplish even more at brown belt.

👧🏻 Pairin is also only the third athlete in 20 years to come through our kids program and earn a Jiu Jitsu brown belt, a testament to years of dedication, consistency, and hard work.

We are incredibly proud of everything she has achieved and look forward to the next chapter of her journey.

🥉🌎 Madeleine Avila earns a World Bronze Medal in the Purple Belt Middleweight division!

Madeleine kicked off her Worlds campaign with a hard-fought victory, securing a takedown advantage to advance. In the quarterfinals, she put together a dominant performance, earning an 11-0 victory and finishing the match in a submission attempt to punch her ticket to the semifinals.

Not finished yet, Madeleine also tested herself in the Open Class, where she picked up another win by takedown advantage before her run came to an end in the quarterfinals.

This achievement is especially impressive as it comes during Madeleine’s first year competing at purple belt. Between balancing her school responsibilities, coaching the next generation of athletes, and maintaining an intense training schedule, she continues to prove that hard work and consistency pay off on the biggest stages.

Congratulations, Madeleine, on becoming a 3x World Championship Medalist! 👏🌎

🥊 What an awesome day at the WKA Scrimmage!

We had athletes of all ages and experience levels step on the mats and showcase different styles of fighting, all while gaining valuable rounds and experience.

It was great seeing participants from all three of our locations come together to support each other, compete, and continue growing as martial artists. 👊

A huge thank you to WKA for giving our team this opportunity once again and for putting together such a great event. We’re proud of everyone who stepped up and represented! 🙌🔥
