Ok, so here’s everything that sounds like a red flag about canyoning in São Miguel (but are the reasons that make us love this). 🚩

No signal. Water cold enough to make you gasp. A jump where you genuinely can’t see the landing. Rappelling down a literal waterfall with a rope and your own nerve.

Yeah. All on purpose.

We didn’t build this trip to be comfortable. We built it so you’d have a story that starts with “you’re not gonna believe what we did.”

The waterfall is what you notice first.

But before you step into the canyon, your guide is already reading the route: how the water is moving, where the group should pass, which spots need more attention and what pace makes the experience safe for everyone.

That is what makes canyoning feel different with guides. You are not just following a trail. You are being led by someone who knows the canyon, understands the island and helps you enjoy the adventure with more confidence.
