We had a chat with one of our short-course athletes, 🇵🇱

How is your training with MISP going?
«Training is going very well. I started preparing for the next season in December. In January I was at the altitude training camp in Sierra Nevada and did there a lot of good work and foundations for racing season»

How is it being coached by MI Sports Performance?
«I’ve been working with MISP over 2 years and I’m really pleased. I’m trying to be patient and feeling that with every month of consistent work I’m getting a little bit better and more ready for races. Contact is good and if I have any concern or change in training is needed, coach is always available»

When will you start your season?
«My first race of the season will be a 10k run race and one month later Duathlon European Championships, both races in Poland, then later I will start a triathlon season»

At MI Sports Performance, we encourage all our athletes to find others to train with. So the tip of the week is to find a training group or a training partner.

Not only does it make it easier to get trough your workouts, it helps you get the most out of yourself training with people better than you. Our tip is to contact your local tri, swim or run club and seek new training partners!

LT2 swim session
This weeks workout of the week is LT2 / threshold swim sessions.
For most of our athletes, both long course and short course we implement LT2 swim sessions at least once per week.
These sessions usually include a standardised progressive warm up, a main set of 2000-2500 metres of threshold, and finishes off with an easy cool down of 400-1000 metres.

A common example of one of these sessions could be:
Warm up: (1000m)
200m free
4x50m Drill-Crawl
200m LT1
200m LT2
4x25m 15m MAX
100m easy

Main: (2400m)
7-8x300 R40sec

Cool down: (1000m)
4-5x200m

WORKOUT OF THE WEEK

This week’s workout is long runs🏃‍♂️

Long runs are good to implement into your weekly training schedule. It’s a good way to increase your weekly mileage and to build a good aerobic base.

Our tip is to do your long run on soft surfaces or in the mountains, to reduce muscle damage and get more time on the legs. If you are training for a marathon or half-marathon, you can do intervals in combination with your long run. Good luck!
