It was an interesting experience, quite a challenge — I’d never done a repair of this scale before. It wasn’t just a ding or a crack; the board had already been repaired once before, and a bubble had formed at the repair spot. When I opened up the lamination, it turned out I had to remove the entire deck, but that wasn’t all — I also had to rebuild 5mm of foam and reshape the top from scratch, and only after that do a new lamination with a new design. In the end, I’m happy with how it turned out.

Really stoked with how this board has held up — shaped it a year ago and it’s been ridden hard ever since. Just one proper ding near the nose and a couple of resin chips on the rail. Not a single significant heel or knee dent on the deck, thanks to the double overlap patch — check it out, it looks absolutely brand new after a quick repair. The wooden tail block has proven absolutely solid, so I’m thinking of adding a wooden nose insert on the next build as well. Drop me a message if you fancy having a battering ram like this one 😄🤙

Tourist season is upon us, and the surf spots are getting busier by the day. Collisions are inevitable, which means your boards are going to pick up damage.
No matter how scary a hole in your board looks at first, almost everything can be repaired. Here’s one example — a hole caused by the nose of another board. But don’t worry, it’s completely fixable.

And a quick reminder: it’s really important not to use your board if you notice a crack or chip. This causes extra complications and significantly increases repair time, as the board will need to be dried out properly.
