420 Development Programme - Morocco. 🇲🇦

As sailors prepare for the 2026 Optimist World Championship in Tangier, Morocco, the International 420 Class was delighted to connect with the next generation of athletes considering their future pathway in sailing.

420 Class President Jose Massapina spent time meeting sailors, parents and coaches, answering questions about the class, discussing opportunities within the global 420 community, and sharing insights into life in one of the world's leading youth double-handed classes.

With many competitors approaching the end of their Optimist journey, it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase what comes next and help young sailors explore their options for continued development in the sport.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, learn more about the class, and collect some 420 merchandise. We look forward to welcoming many of you onto the 420 starting line in the future.

RIP Bunny Warren.

The International 420 Class Association is deeply saddened by the passing of Bunny Warren.

A true pillar of the International 420 Class, Bunny was one of our longest-serving and most respected coaches. Over many years, he dedicated himself to developing young sailors, shaping not only their performance on the water but also their character beyond it. His impact on the 420 community spans generations and will not be forgotten.

Bunny’s passion, knowledge, and commitment to the sport helped guide countless sailors toward success, and his presence will be deeply missed across the entire yachting fraternity.

Thank you, Bunny, for everything you gave to our Class.

Fair winds and rest in peace. 🕊️

Strengthening connections across the sailing community 🤝

During the Snipe European Master Mixed Championship in Tavira, Portugal, International 420 Class Association President José Massapina met with SCIRA President Martin Bermúdez (ESP).

The discussion focused on class management, sailor development, and the strong connection between the 420 and Snipe classes. As one of the world's leading youth classes, the 420 continues to provide a pathway for sailors who later join and strengthen fleets such as the Snipe Class around the globe.

Both presidents expressed their willingness to continue the dialogue and further strengthen the relationship between the two international classes.

Beautiful setting, growing fleet, and patience put to the test 🇵🇹⛵️

The 2ª PAN | 420 Class – Portuguese Qualifier #2 is underway in Oeiras, a venue that continues to showcase the best of Portuguese sailing. With its stunning coastline and technical race area, it’s the perfect stage for the country’s rising 420 talent.

A strong fleet of 26 boats highlights the steady growth of the class in Portugal, with more young sailors stepping into the pathway and raising the level of competition at every event.

Day 1 brought a slow start, as the wind took its time to build. But once it filled in, three high-quality races were completed, where consistency, focus, and small details made all the difference.

Leading the fleet after the opening day:
🥇 Bernardo Neto & Laura Pinto
🥈 Vera Cyrne & Karolina Leite
🥉 Tomás Pacheco & Manuel Rocha

Day 2, however, reminded everyone of sailing’s unpredictable nature. Despite the best efforts of the race committee, the breeze never settled, and no racing was possible.

Racing continues tomorrow.
