During these (almost) 3 months of travelling we have changed a few bits about our van - the kitchen is not one of them though. We wanted to keep it simple and easy to keep organised, and we knew we wanted a sink with a foot pump. In our kitchen, as well in the rest of the van, we have used a lot of recycled materials including wood from Birks old skateboards and old fabrics and boxes from secondhand stores.🚰🧺🛹

We recently celebrated Birks birthday.🇩🇰
Noah and Mia, who were here over New Years, started the day off with the most amazing birthday brunch. Birks wishes for the day was to go surfing, drink some beers in the sun and end the day off with a fat homemade burger - and so we did. Thank you to our lovely friends for this day❤️

We made a pit stop in Bruges to grab a local beer, but we ended up wandering around in the old part of town for nearly 6 hours. The big churches and town halls were amazing, and we were surrounded by the smell of waffles and the sound of horse carriages passing us by. Definitely worth a visit.

Det går fremad!
Vores senge-/opholdsområde er så småt ved at se færdigt ud. Det har været en proces, hvor det (igen) har vist sig at være mere indviklet end vi lige havde tænkt. Vi har måtte skrue ud og skrue i igen 1000 gange; det har nemlig hele tiden gjaldt om at gøre det så stabilt som muligt, men stadigvæk lave så meget plads til opbevaring og surfboards som muligt.
Nu mangler vi næsten kun at beklæde bænkene og gulvet, finde bord til midten og finde de perfekte madrasser. Derefter kan vi vinge det, måske vigtigste område i Frank, af🤩

We’re seeing progress !
Our bed- and living area is soon to be finished. The process has (yet again) shown itself to be more complicated than we had thought at first. It has been a continuous process of making sure it is as stable as possible while still having as much space for surfboards as possible.
Now it’s time to line the benches and the floor, find a table to put between the benches and find the perfect mattresses. And after that we’re done with probably the most important part of Frank.🤩

Installer et tagvindue med os!

Idag tog vi os sammen, og installerede vores andet (og sidste) vindue i loftet på Frank. Vi har valgt både at installere ventilator og vindue, da det vil skabe en virkelig god cirkulation af luft inde i kabinen. Både til de varme nætter, men også til når vi f.eks. laver mad indendørs.

Da vi installerede vinduet med vores Maxx Air Fan, tog det en hel dag - denne gang tog det ikke mere end 2 timer! Kæmpe succesoplevelse. Vi havde lært af vores tidligere fejl, og vi følte os rimelig selvsikre i hele processen.

Vinduet har vi købt brugt for 500 dkk. Det var før brugt i en campingvogn, men de tidligere ejere ville nu skifte til en ventilator.
Nu vil vi blive færdige med at isolere loft og vægge, så vi snarest muligt kan få Frank beklædt indvendigt. VI GLÆDER OS!!

Install a rooftop window with us!
Today we pulled ourselves together and installed a second (and last) rooftop window in Frank. We have chosen to install both a air fan and a window as it will create great airflow in the van. Both through the warm nights and when we are cooking inside.

It took a whole day when we installed our Maxx Air fan - it took us no longer than two ours this time! We had learned from our previous mistakes and felt pretty confident in the whole process. Experience pays of!

We bought the window for 500 dkk. It has previously been used in a caravan but the previous owners wanted to switch to a fan.
Next step is to get done with isolating and then we can install our final walls, floor and roof. We’re so exited!!

Sig hej til Frank!
Frank er en 315 cdi Mercedes Sprinter fra 2008. Vi købte ham i februar 2021, og har siden da gået og hygget om ham. Målet er, at han er blevet omdannet fra tom varebil til vores rullende hjem inden udgangen af 2021. Derefter sigter vi efter Europas vestkyst, og bølgerne den kan tilbyde os. Dog er planen for vores tur i Frank, som udgangspunkt, at vi ikke vil have nogen plan. Det er også lige præcis dérfor, at vi har valgt at ombygge en van - vi vil ikke låses på en bestemt rejse, men derimod lade os inspirere, og ombestemme os 1000 gange, hele turen igennem. Det eneste kriterie for os er, at vi ikke vil stikke snuden mod Danmark, før vi er fyldt op med god mad, gode oplevelser og gode bølger.

Den her side er tilegnet alle dem, der vil følge med - venner, familie, vanlife entusiaster. Vi vil bare glæde os til at dele hele processen med jer.🚐🌊

Say hi to Frank!
Frank is a 315 cdi Mercedes Sprinter from 2008. We bought him in February 2021 and have since been fixing him up. The goal is to have him transformed from an empty van to a home on wheels by the end of 2021. By that time we will be heading towards the west coast of Europe and the waves we are offered there. However, our overall plan for our trip in Frank is to, as far as possible, not have a plan. And that is exactly why we have chosen to build our own van - we dont want to be tied to a specific trip, but on the contrary we want to let us inspire and change our minds a thousand times through the whole trip. The only criteria we have is to not leave for Denmark again before we are filled to the top with great food, great experiences and great waves.

This page is for anyone who wants to follow this journey - friends, family, vanlife enthusiasts. We look forward to be sharing the whole process with you. 🚐🌊
