Given the epidemiological and practical situation in Europe, and Portugal in particular, as a result of the COVID-19 problamatic, and the current uncertainty about the future, the management of the Columbófilo Group of Cartaxo decided to cancel the holding of the DERBY CARTAXO 2021. We decided to make a "sabbatical" year. Therefor, and because we owe a word to all those interested, we take this opportunity to thank for the fidelity, involvement and dedication of all the participants and collaborators, who since 2009 have been contributing to make this DERBY a reality! We apologize, but also want to inform you that we have the intention to come back, if nothing to the contrary prevents us from restarting this event. Meanwhile we are studying various options to re-edit the Derby. We thank you for your understanding and wish everybody good luck and lots of “pigeon-pleasure”!

Dirk Van Stichel (Belgium), winner of Semi Final race DERBY CARTAXO 2020, thanks the organisation for receiving the prizemoney! His blue c**k placed 21th position in the Final race Villarrobledo (505km) is allready back in Belgium! His colony consists only 30 pigeons. A first participation in the Derby and with a fantastic result! May it inspire others to join!
