Learning to kitesurf in Lisbon, where do you actually start?
It's the question we hear most at Fonte da Telha. Costa da Caparica is one of the easiest places in Europe to learn: a shallow, waist-deep bay with a clean sandy bottom and steady summer Nortada wind, just 25 minutes from central Lisbon. You fall, you stand up, you go again, which is exactly what makes it forgiving for a first lesson.
The questions every beginner asks:
❓ Do I need to swim well? Just be comfortable in deep water, lessons run in a shallow bay.
❓ Do I need to be strong or fit? No, the kite's power runs through a harness to your core, not your arms. Every build and age learns.
❓ How long until I'm riding? Most people reach their first independent rides in 10–15 hours on the water.
❓ What if there's no wind on my day? Nothing lost, under our Windless Guarantee, no teachable wind means no charge.
The instructor matters more than the logo, so we keep it to a maximum of two students each, film every water session, and review the footage with you in the debrief, the fastest way to fix what you can't feel in the moment.
